I really don't have any info except the photos. I was still in/just out of high school when this bunch of photos were taken, and they were "handed down" to me because someone knew I am a Buick nut. I drove a '67 Special in high school and never heard of the Nats in Bowling Green until the early 1990s (I'm guessing, here). It's a shame, because I probably would have tried to attend back then. I have always lived close to BG.
I didn't get out of high school until 2004 so yeah I would have been way to young..... I was hoping someone on here had some more info on the car and or more photos of it.
I have more pics of that car, I think the owners name was Rick but I cannot remember the last name. I will try to dig them up...1988 or older based on the car in post 31
I wished I had a Time Machine to transport us all back to those days. Great pictures, stirred up a lot of memories here. Thank You Sir.
Stan Davis "going topless". I'm pretty sure that is The Jim Turner Stage 2 from Bronte, Tx at the time. It has since gone to Chicago area, or so I've heard. Pretty sure this was Chuck Strader's -72 Stage 1
Jamie.....i have a few from that era that i can scan and add here if you like......i only have a small group. Peace WildBill
The blue 70 with the blower belonged to Kevin Conners,he was part of the Illinois chapter. He also has a engine pick in the Kenne-Bell catalogue. Last I saw the car or Kevin was at Chicago world of wheels prob in the early 90s,went full show with chrome rotors etc. He even raced it at the nats back then! Was good times back then for sure! My brother towed my 70 stage behind his 3 mo old gn,I'll find the pic and post, dragging but all the way! We both raced my car ran 12.02 his gn went 13.60, not bad for a tw vehicle! Funny someone showed the pic of Theresa Byrd Buick , my buddy met her when we were cruising holiday inn, ended up long distance dating her for a bit. Great memories and good times!
You're quite welcome. I'm glad others get to enjoy these photos. No kiddin'...I was happy to share them. Feel free to post any you might have, WildBill. We might have a pretty nice collection, soon.
How 'bout them Hooker Super Comp Headers... #7 & 8 going right out the fender well! How many of us cut up a GS to install those things back in the day?!?! Great pics!! Thanks for posting!
I was in that club briefly til I switched to Poston's that didn't fit for crap either on my '67. I've always regretted doing that.
Nick I was in that club too. Cut up a 71 Stage 1 for Hookers when I was young. Decided I would never do that to a car again. Fast forward 15 years when I buy my 70 GS 455 and wouldn't you know it...had Hooker Super Comps! That's Life!
You're welcome! Check out all those red hoses and the Stinger S4 on the firewall, too. That's a look you just don't see any more...
I just found some shots from the 85 GS Nationals today.....i will scan them in and post them.....110 Insta-matic Peace WildBill
This would be a great thread to keep going. I happened to have these on my phone & just posted them two in another thread but this is more appropriate. I'm the "unnamed" in the middle. We used to stay at the Ramada back when the Holidome was the still there and one year this real '71 GSX was the first person/car we encountered. I was never great about taking pics but have more.
