Hi Brian, Your bolt may be the correct one that Brett/Dave posted in the first post. I would love to see a pic of the entire bolt removed, and since your upper bracket was installed on the wrong side of the alternator, perhaps you can snap a pic when you fix it? lol...
Well crap! I never paid it that much attention since it came that way. Slater and you are causing me too much grief! While I have the bracket off, what color should the bracket be?
This whole mess is Slater's fault. I'm just trying to learn and find him a damn bolt so he can sleep at night not worrying about the wrong bolt in his restored alternator in front of the wrong intake, wrong carb, and headers!!! Just busting your balls, Brett!!!
I can't wait until you guys get to the discussion of the valve cover bolts. I sure wish those rolling smileys were still around. Duane
Here's some additional pictures of the bolt on my car. And I corrected the bracket position, thanks James. I'll get to the bracket color another day.
Not to drag this on any further, but it is interesting how the 1970 and 1971 assembly manuals show different part numbers for these bolts. I wonder what was different about the applications that would call for a different bolt? They both show separate washers with the same part number. 1970 is top pic. 1971 is bottom pic.
