Put that 510 back in, or maybe buy a 608 cam. Looks like a nasty grind. ...maybe Sean will sell you that big roller he's not going to use.
My engine with a roller cam and Johnson hydraulic lifters needed 9.325" pushrods and with Morels needed 9.550"
Sure about that Mike? Could you have it reversed? Pushrod length with the Morel lifters in my 470 was 8.725. The Johnsons required 8.950 pushrods. The Johnson Roller lifters have a plunger cup that is .230 deeper.
Not comparing deck heights, just Morel and Johnson lifter pushrod cup depth whether 350 or 455. I needed longer push rods with the Johnson lifters because of the deeper cup.
I'm sorry, you're correct Larry. I read my notes wrong; I had the height difference written down and added it instead of subtracting it from my current pushrod length. The Morels are .220" taller than the Johnsons. My engine with a roller cam and Johnson hydraulic lifters needed 9.325" pushrods and with Morels would need 9.100"
following and digesting all this stuff, there seems to be a lot of secrecy about the effectiveness of these heads. business wise, if you want to sell 'em and make money, tell me more, tell me how good they are, tell me how happy I will be buying these heads. so far, it's been ZILCH.!!! there are a couple of us out there that are thrashing the 350. do you go after those people for a sale? the keyboard racers AIN'T gonna buy the heads. if I step on your toes and ground them and pissed you off, good. think about how long people have waited for product to make the buick 350 run.
I have ordered & paid for a set of these and should receive them soon. How good are these heads and how will I use them? I am not a drag racer... nor will I even use a dyno. I am just a street rodder that wants more HP than a stock engine produced. Enough has been revealed about the flow numbers that I know they are better than stock heads. And that was good enough for me!
Well there you go that is the answer we all wanted to hear. They are better than stock and that is good enough for me. Of course they are going to be better than stock that is a no brainer but they should have flowed better than my ported stock heads. I am waiting for our northern 350 guru to max port the heads and get them on the car that should take another 10 years. So you all going to tell me that my 13.31 time with stock ported heads is about as good as it gets Forget this stock crap I want to beat the 455's that are warmed over. Those heads should put me at 12.90 and no slower. OUT OF THE BOX So I made 395 hp with a TA 510 cam now you guys that want to run these heads and the new intake with a roller cam and 10.5 comp should make 500 hp now easily RIGHT! So who wants the heads more the guys that race or the ones that want a better than stock engine. Who in the world is running a power adder more that me and gsjohnny where are all those turbo 350's at we keep hearing about. 0 you know the ones that are going to put the 350 in the forefront. 0 When you beat my 11.81 @114 time on nitrous with your 350 then you have something. Still waiting... At least beat my 12.32 time I just did 2 weeks ago at Quaker on a pissy 75 shot of nitrous. and that is with a 25 year old motor since the last rebuild. My crap still runs and strong and everyone else is gone. you guys on here are just plain weak that is all there is to it. This is 20 years overdo and a little late to the program.
Oh yeah just a bundle of positivity around here . So far 9 sets have been sold. Things will come around, the initial dyno tests went really well so good things are coming. Im planning to order another set of heads, maybe two. Scotty Brown and I spoke the other day for an hour. He is going to buy a set, port them and develop a repeatable CNC program for them. He even plans to build a 350 engine now that we have all the puzzle pieces. The haters can hate, it doesn’t bother me anymore.
I currently have a short block at a retired machinist that used to build engines for a very well known NHRA pro stock team. To say the least it will be a while before I will be able to post anything. He's a avid fisherman and also retired, so progress during the summer months will be slow. He wants to remain anonymous beings he doesn't need the exposure. I will though post as things unfold. I wont be swapping motors till this winter. Some more information from TA would be appreciated, I for one would think it would boost sales. My machinist will be contacting them when he compiles a list of what he wants from them for the build.
glad to see you got the secret inside track of how many have been sold. then again that don't mean squat. give us the dyno tests results. back it up with some info. I built my engine and was posted on the bpg board on everything I did good and bad. reported how good the s/p intake is on the 350. even had pics posted by my son. no dyno results because i go by e.t and mph AT THE TRACK. fox and demko has their's on here. where the hell is everybody else?
Again I see multiple years teething pains with all the different rockers, spacer's, washer's and push rod differences.. It's obvious TA has dyno these for comparisons to the factory steel heads. Are they worried about posting spec's or just want to surprise us?? Did the 455 AL Stage 1 heads take so long to be marketed?
