… by posting something in the Virus news and update section, I decided to share with you my latest tool . I got tired working with the heavy impact gun and always dripping over the airhose, so I thought I give a cordless tool a shot. As I have already many powertools using the 18V batteries I decided to stick with Bosch. This thing is really small and lightweigth and delivers 300Nm (220 lbf ft) of torque. I am desperate to try it out, but it is still frickin cold in my garage, so that is postponed to tomorrow.
Is it brushless? You can generaly use tgem the same except in deep on motor. Cordless wratchets suck. The milwakee 3/8 drive work good too. I use them for tearing down stuff.
I know what you mean Ralf, I avoid the Virus Forum as well. I'm glad all those threads are in one place. I have a Dewalt 20 volt with 700 ft. lbs of break away torque. Love it.
Almost all of my techs have gone to battery powered impact guns, from 1/4"-3/4". Very rarely do I hear an old IR double hammer out there.
@ Anson: Yes it is brushless @ Larry: Yeah, I come to this place to virtually get my hands dirty, not to win a rhetoric contest in philosophical discussions (would loose anyway, as this is not my mother tongue). WOW 700 ft.lbs, thats crazy, what a monster. The biggest Bosch with 18V just puts 480 ft. lbs on the bench. I decided to go with the smaller and lighter unit, as I still have the impact gun in the closet for the more stubborn bolts/nuts.
https://www.dewalt.com/products/pow...rench-with-detent-pin-anvil-tool-only/dcf899b I was wrong, 700 ft. lbs. Max torque, and 1200 ft. lbs. break away torque
Tell me about it. That is one toxic environment over there. This would be a much better Board without it.
I’ve got the Milwaukee 18V version of that. In general, those units are pretty effective - I once broke off a lug bolt trying to get a lug nut off that seized up with it. I ascribed that to metal fatigue, but it sure impressed my neighbor as he watched.
I chose the Milwaukee brand because I already had a couple other tools and I wanted to stick with the same batteries. I love both of these. The 3/8's is great at tearing down engines. I get out the half incher for the heads and main caps. Great tools.
Carry one in my truck for changing trailer tires on the road. Like a NASCAR pit crew. under 5 mins and Im rolling again. got another in my work van for use with the fan hub removal tool. They both work great for the intended jobs.
Those aren't mine. I picked them up in BG for a local guy and we haven't met up for him to get them yet. I was going to visit him as soon as the weather got better here. Not sure when that'll happen now. FWIW, I have built an AR-15 because I had an extra barrel laying around.
When my son upgrades his DeWalt tools I get the hand me downs good %$F#%^& I'll NEVER go back to air tools & my ole trusty (weak, slow & heavy) Ryobi sets have been tossed. His 20V impact does make it like a NASCAR pit stop especially since I get to watch him change the tires. I enjoy the break too. Stay safe folks.
