Here is what I have. No broken studs (one slightly bent). A few minor pits in the chrome. PM me if interested. Thanks

No offense intended to tubecatgs but that hood trim is from a Skylark Custom or a Skylark 350, not a GS. A hood trim for a '72 GS has a different profile and it turns down on each end to line up with the headlight bezel.

I think Canadian GS 350 mentioned elsewhere that he is new to Buicks and I wasn't sure if he would be aware of this. I'm not trying to block a sale but don't want anyone to be unhappy or have to pay for return shipping, etc.

Thanks guys. Yes I’m new to Buick’s....couple years now, there are none to bd seen here in Vancouver. I see the difference now in that great picture. I’ll keep for future reference. Tubecatgs, I’ll have to pass on this. Hopefully one will come up here.
    Thanks

I'm not sure how picky you want to be but there are also 2 designs of the GS hood molding. The difference is only seen when the hood is open. It's the reinforcement lip on the backside. The early cars have a long lip, the later cars have a short one only in the center. I guess Buick determined that the longer reinforcement wasn't needed and they could save a few cents in material to make it shorter. I'll dig up a photo or just go out to the garage and snap a few photos.

Would have never known that. My car is s 72...I’d be ok with either, as sounds like this part is hard to come by.

There have been a few guys that say their GS was built with the incorrect (Skylark) hood trim installed. With all the factory mistakes that have been documented, I wouldn't doubt it a bit that several were built that way. Most customers would never notice. I never understood why Buick made two designs anyway since the turn down on the end is designed to line up with the headlight bezel, and the Skylark and GS used the same bezel. Seems like they would have just made them all the same.

Interesting, well if a nice turn down style ever shows up, I’ll be interested. For now, I’ll stick with the one I have.

Just an FYI, the flat one I pictured was from a Skylark convertible.. I wonder if convertibles had the flat... yeah silly they made 2 types...

The ones that curve down was used on all 1972 Skylarks (exp Custom), GS and SportWagon, but he Skylark Custom used straight molding that was matched with a metal grill.

As mentioned above the the curved down style there are two variations even though they have the same part number. On one the bottom inside of the chrome extends right to the very outer ends (early), the second style only goes about 1/3 of the way out from center and then stops (late). This leaves a rather unsightly edge right there in plain view when the hood is open, but is also much lighter. There are also two styles of headlight bezels for 72, again with the same part number, the early ones are quite thin and light, the later ones are thicker across the top and have more bracing. The change over seems to be around mid Nov 1971 (from 12 different cars researched), and interestingly it appears that they went with the lighter hood moldings when they swapped over to the heavier bezels. The lighter bezels tended to crack on the inside edge (later ones have more metal in this area), the heavier hood moldings tended to crack in the middle top (which would seem to be why they made the outer edges lighter in the later versions to take some stress away perhaps?). So early cars = light bezels/heavy molding and later cars would have heavier bezels/lighter moldings. Now if someone would just 3D print this stuff....LOL

From midway down the page: http://fixjet.ca/final.html

Some extra pics so you can see. Note the thick edge across the top of the later style bezels. The red arrow shows where the earlier style (thin bezels) tend to crack. The hood molding pics are from the top to show that lower flange.
