Not everyone's cup of tea, and honestly these weren't mine either, but I'm really beginning to like them. The back seat is so cool, and a cheap way to get a cool cruiser: https://bozeman.craigslist.org/cto/d/bozeman-66-bird/7145056949.html 66 T-Bird - $7000 image 6 of 14 © craigslist - Map data © OpenStreetMap 1966 Ford Thunderbird fuel: gas odometer: 76000 title status: clean transmission: automatic As seen in Thelma and Louise. 76k original miles, 390, car was bought from an old ford dealer in Cody then restored. Friend of mine had a black on black 61 'bird. Back in the early 70s. There were 4 of us and in the band, and we did a lot of driving/crusing in that car "working it out". Loved that car and the times.
I had one of those back in the `70s, about the same color but with a black vinyl top and black leather interior, a fairly rare option back then. It had the 428 engine. They're heavy, like 4,600lbs but they ride nice.
I've always liked early to mid-'60s T-Birds, but after owning my '63 for almost two years, I have discovered that they are terrible to work on. It's as if the engineering staff hated auto mechanics. Just yesterday, after working on my Skylark, I told my wife that I shouldn't have been cheap and I should have bought a Riviera. I still like the T-Bird though, but its two best attributes are its looks and its ride. It does NOT drive well, but it's got a good ride.
