So it looks like I can use a Pertronix Flame Thrower or Flame Thrower II, or even a stock coil if I want to relocate the coil to the stock location. Correct? Recommendations for brand of coil, spark plug wires, etc.?
Clarkie, Correct....if your wanting more of a stock look....put Flame Thrower or Flame Thrower II. They work great! Unless you are going with a Day2 look....I would get rid of the Accel Super Coil.
Or the blaster coils from MSD. They are all foreign made anyways. MSD coils are made to work with their CD boxes. https://www.holley.com/products/ignition/ignition_coils/street/ I use the MSD Super Conductor wires. Universal 8 cylinder set. https://www.holley.com/products/ignition/spark_plug_wires/msd_spark_plug_wires/
Thanks Larry and Dan. I'm leaning toward the Flame Thrower II. I'm likely going to go with AC Delco plug wires, cap and rotor. Unless you've had a bad experience with these. My only concern is that the wires will be too long and make a clean install difficult. I really want to use the stud mount looms to make it all nice and tidy.
I've had good success with cutting the long ones to size and recrimp-ing a new connector on the end: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00029JKAK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/Taylor-46001...KGMEQDJCRHF&psc=1&refRID=4K63YMZMBKGMEQDJCRHF Makes for a much cleaner install!
Thanks for that info, Bill, because I am also in the market for some new wires. I will check out your recommendations.
Thanks, guys. I ordered a Flame Thrower II today and I am picking up AC Delco wires, cap and rotor on Wednesday along with Dorman stud mount wire looms.
What is the factory colour of the coil mounting bracket? Judging from the one I just cleaned up, it looks like it may have been natural steel. Any guidance is appreciated.
