I ordered brake shoe for my wagon. They are Bendix # 462. The description states that they are riveted. I received bonded shoes. I clicked on problem with order link and answered the questions. I get to the one that says do they look like the one in the picture. Options are yes, no, or not sure. They only show a side view, so being unable to see the face of the lining to see if they are riveted or bonded, I click not sure. They want me to return them and reorder at my expense since I , according to them, ordered the wrong part! There is no way to explain the problem so even if I was willing to ship them back and reorder, I would probably get another set of bonded shoes. I disputed the charge on my credit card, so hopefully I will get a response from RA with some way to explain the problem. Credit card told me it could take up to 90 days..
See if you can call and talk to a person. Corporate phone number is : 1-608-661-1376 I have had very good luck writing letters. Most people don't have the patience to do that, but someone is in charge of reading those letters and you might be surprised at the results you can get.
Of course there is. You just have to be motivated enough to persevere. Maybe? https://gethuman.com/phone-number/Rockauto
I didn't want to return the shoes and get the same shoes sent to me. I think that the cataog is probably wrong.
Write a letter. It works, plus it is good therapy. Think of everything you want to get across. I have gotten a lot of things done with letter writing. Got reimbursed for over 400.00 one time (Toshiba)
That has been my experience with RA too. I stopped buying mechanical parts and limit my purchases to things like wipers, belts and hoses.
Lots of folks are having similar experiences with all of the major online retailers. People are remembering the value of brick and mortar stores. There will be a resurgence of traditional shopping.. just about everyone has a pile of products that was too much of a pita to return...
Here is some good news for you -- on # 462 brake shoes.... I have a couple sets of N.O.S. ++ Asbestos ++ brake shoes for that application.... If you would prefer to go with the Quality softest smoooooothest braking system known to mankind rather than the Chineseum garbage of today's shoes that they are forced to sell...... Always best to simply call me --- Craig --- 516 - 485 - 1935......
Were the prompts from an automated machine requiring your voice response ?? The best way around these computer calls is to mumble unintelligent responses to their questions . When the computer says , " I'm sorry I didn't understand your response " keep mumbling like those televangelists " Speaking in Tongues " on TV . You will get a Human very quickly . I do it all the time . My wife thinks I'm nuts when she hears me doing it , BUT I always get a human on the line shortly . And never disconnected .
I got a $1500 refund check for a part on my CNC that I thought was WAY overpriced. I always write/send to the president of a co. If it's important enough I'll overnight the letter - That usually gets it to the right person.
Spot on. There is a limit to on line retail. Home improvement for example. One is simply not going to "order" a 94 lb bag of Portland on line and have it shipped. Ridiculous. As much as I despise Lowes and Home Depot they are going to be around in some form for a long time.
I don’t recall seeing a replacement riveted brake shoe on anything in a long time. Most, if not all, are bonded now. I never considered it to be a deal breaker. If someone has a riveted brake shoe, it is likely older. Sounds like you may want to contact Craig (mobilepartsguy123).
I've had to return several items to rockauto. Knowing the return process, you just have to make sure the automated system thinks it's their fault. Problem solved. If it's their fault they also pay for return shipping. When shopping on rockauto, double check amazon for items in your cart. I've often found products from the same source, meaning they don't lose money from you switching to amazon and you get the hassle-free return.
