Paul's wagon is a lot lighter than Denny's car. I think Denny's is more of a black cherry that only pops when the sun hits it. It's nearly black. I can't wait to see it put back together!
Looking forward to the side by side. Pretty sure Paul also painted John Jr.'s Turbo Regal. That car is also in the maroon color spectrum. Let's make it a 3 way comparison.
Adam is spot on. The wagon in HOK Kandy Brandywine is so much lighter than Denny’s car. Although I started with a late model Chrysler red for Denny’s color, there was a lot of basic black added to it to darken it up. Plus the red pearl enhances the pop in the sun. Here’s a couple of shots showing the striking difference. Even in the ‘shade’ inside the garage they are quite different. Couldn’t get a true side by side since neither car is running right now and the wagon is too heavy to push much further than the garage apron!
Also had the ‘70 post car out in the sun yesterday. Got a couple of shots of all three while I was at it. Inside the Plum Mist post car looks close to Denny’s but outside, again they are night and day.
And finally here is John jr’s Turbo Regal from a couple of years ago. I only have inside pics on my phone but again it looks a lot like the post car and Denny’s inside. I guess I am in a rut with red-themed cars. Good thing Paul Massicotte’s Skylark was thrown in the midst!
Speaking as a guy who ran a black race car for many years, I have only one thing to say.. Car looks great, but get ready to sweat like a pig in the staging lanes.. You very well may be wishing for that refrigerator white finish. Been there, done that. I used to lose a couple pounds every weekend, and had to drink water like a fish to keep hydrated, on those really hot summer trips to the strip. JW
I know exactly what you are talking about, the change from White to this dark Burgundy should be interesting. One thing that will help is the limo tint on the windows. Plus the older i get, our swimming pool might start winning out on those 90 degree plus days.
Thanks Ryan. Finally making progress on the car after being on the back burner for years! Denny, who cares how hot you get for 10 seconds? White is too boring! Buicks are for going fast with class.
Paul, I sure hope you are going to the nationals. I want to meet you and see that wagon of yours. Well I want to meet everyone. Tim
