I will agree with that statement.

It is generally not a good sign for a positive auction result when the seller picks and chooses which questions he wishes to answer.

In my opinion a responsive seller that is completely open and upfront wins the confidence of the bidders. Skipping a topic or question is not a wise move. Someone that knows the seller (Tom B) should give him some advice before the peanut gallery on BAT has to answer it for him and therefore making him look bad.

Can one withdrawal a bid ? If they’re not getting the appropriate answers to their questions ?

That's what BAT's comments are for:). Or post a link to this thread.

    No, according to BaT.

But, then again, BaT won't press legally anyway because it isn't really an auction, it's a pricing vehicle for a private sale. If the buyer decides not to buy, then it's on the seller to litigate - so I wouldn't worry too much.

Look at those bids below, $72K in 11 hours. That's not an auction, it's impatience and it has 7 days to go.

    I don't believe so.

Bidders should be comfortable with their bid based on the information presented.

It is an auction. Your logic is nonsense. If you don't like the car, don't bid.

There is no reason to belittle others who do like the car, because their logic and sense of value disagrees with yours.

These things defy logic, as have auctions since the dawn of time. The whole idea is to get emotions in play. When I see high bids early on, it's quite easy to consider that maybe something's rotten.

People used to complain about "sniping" - a last second bid on ebay just before the auction is scheduled to end - as somehow not being "fair"! Rubbish. All's fair except for shill bidding.

The last-second snipe does two things...first, it relieves you of the temptation of continuously bidding up due to the perceived competition. Put simply, know what you're willing to spend, and snipe away. One bid, no feeding frenzy after your bid.

Second, it relieves other bidders from taking advantage of their own feeding frenzy by denying them the time to up-bid you.

Crazy. Probably why I never found Vegas interesting except for the music & shows!

Granted, some sites don't allow last-second bidding, they automatically extend the auction duration after each bid to promote the craziness. Not sure if BAT does that or not.

BAT definitely extends the auction if there is a last second "snipe".

Yuck. So much for that plan! In that case, everyone's at the mercy of the hungriest little piranha...and the shills.

Two minutes are added to the clock after each bid past closing time.

If the AC was added at the time of restoration, I would bet that the power windows were also added during that restoration. However, the only way to know for sure is to see the GS Historic report.

This car was restored by the late Larry Miller and he built the car to meet his tastes (such as adding A/C) rather than making it factory correct, so anything is possible. Having the documents would certainly help answer many questions. Also, could this be the last GSX owner on Earth that hasn't gotten the documents from Wayne? :)

    LOL

It is either that or the seller has the documentation and feels it is better to ignore the topic than it is to let bidders see the truth that those documents present.

Unless one requires yeller . I think I’d look at # 646 that JW restored . “ and it is still the nicest OE sheetmetal I have ever seen on any A body I worked on, let alone a GSX”
A car you can actually inspect In person.

I believe that I know the owner, but I think that I will stay out of this. He has sold way more cars than me.

I know the owner/seller, and he is a good guy. I agree that adding the Wayne Roberts docs would go a long way for transparency purposes, but I don't think he is trying to hide anything either. He bought the car from his friend and knew the history when he bought it, so not purchasing the docs is somewhat understandable (and we all know how hard it is/was to reach Wayne Roberts at times...).

For anyone seriously interested, I would recommend using the contact seller tab and speaking to him either through email or on the phone. I think you will find him to be credible and a diehard Buick guy.

I can’t believe people are hung up on the fact that it does not have Wayne Roberts paperwork. The car does come with the original protecto plate. What more do you need to verify as GSX owner states that factory AC was added during the previous restoration, and now we’re hung up on if the power windows are originally installed on the car when new or during the restoration if that’s a problem move on and look for another car.
