Well, Today was the day to cut the donor cars 1/4 off for use on my 71 GS.This car was really rusted on the floors but the driver 1/4 was in very good shape. It has a little area that I wont be using around the window channel, but the 1/4 and the complete wheelhouse are rust free.Maybe a tiny amount of surface rust but the while lip is excellent. Now comes the hard part...trimming it to be used on my GS.I have all summer to get this done though.
Nope....non posi. When cars are done here....they are officially done.....As you can see, there is also the remnants of a 71 GS 350 Bittersweet mist car too.
Why yes Jason, thats the super rare removable top only available on 71 GS cars...bring yours out here and I will install one on your 71 for a nominal fee....free. Pat
You said "1" Less '71 Skylark, in the title, well, make it "2", because that's what I've been doing all day, today, too! :ball: I've had an interesting week, actually, this week: Beginning of the week, I made a road trip to Champaign, IL, for the first time in almost 12 Years, to pick up my NOS 1/4 panels that I had in storage all this time! They were still there, just in much rustier condition (surface rust only, though)! I brought them home, will be sandblasting them to clean them up, and paint, this summer! Yesterday, I had the privilege of driving a buddy and his Dad to Wisconsin (6 Hour drive, one way), where he bought an all original '63 Riviera, with only 20,000 Documented miles! :eek2: That thing is Beautiful, as it followed me home (another 6 Hour drive)! Today, I spent all day dimantling a '71 Skylark that the State refuses to reissue a Title for, unfortunately, as I have no room to keep it for very long, and can't sell it legally, without a Title! o No: :ball: It no longer looks like this, anymore:
I wwwwiiisshhhhh I had a parts car that looked like that!! Same color as my 71 gs. Sell it to me as one big part!!!!!!
It's not an inspection issue. I wish it was that simple! The car was sold from the previous owner to another guy. The guy who bought it Lost the title. :af: He didn't tell the previous owner he lost the title, until almost 2 Years later. o No: ou: (The guy had been driving it, Illegally, without Insurance, with "borrowed" Plates from another car he owned, and without it being Titled in his own name!) He expected the previous owner to Pay for the Lost title application, and whatever was required to have it transferred to his name, because he didn't have the money to do it, himself. uzzled: ($60 for Lost Title search, $15 for processing fee, $100 for Transfer, $78 for Registration= $253.00 Total! Would any of you pay for a car, that you sold 2 Years ago, for someone else?! :blast: ) I've been applying for almost 6 months, until I finally got notification that the State refuses to reissue a title, due to a Threat made by the guy who bought it, to the previous owner. The Title has been completely revoked by the State, to protect the previous owner from being held responsible, should the car be investigated for any reason. This car will never be "Street Legal" again, according to the State, and that's their Final Answer! :Smarty: :ball: :af: Since the guy who bought it, figured it could never be titled again, he thought he'd "sucker" someone else into trying to get it straightened out, and he gave up. That's how I got ahold of it! Another one of my "Free" cars. He owed me money that he borrowed, and couldn't pay it back, so he gave me the car! He knew he couldn't legally sell it, without a Title, and he knew that I collect these cars, so he gave it to a good home (actually just to get the responsibility of off himself!) You know the '72 GS that I've been trying to decide what to do with? Guess what's now getting the Rebuilt '72 GS350 engine and Rebuilt Street/Strip TH350 Transmission, GSX Rear Spoiler, Stage II Hoodscoop, Bucket seats and Floorshifter, Rustfree Doors, White Interior, Fenders and everything else I have salvaged, that came off of this '71 Skylark?! :bglasses: I was hoping that I would be able to get a Title and sell it as a Whole car, as I was trying to avoid "adding" to the parts that I've been trying to get rid of, already! ou: No chance of that happening, now! Engine and Tranny get pulled tomorrow. Waiting on Glass removal, as promised to one of the guys here, on the board. That's all that's left of it!
