I have a set of street slicks that i want to use on my seventy buick when the big engine goes in. Is there an aftermarket vendor making a ten inch sport rims? Will the ten inch tires fit ok on an eight inch rim. I searched for this information on this site and didn't see it, although it is probably in here somewhere.

    Thanx,

Did not see any remarks related to 10" wheels in the thread above.

Wheel Vintiques offers a 15x10 Buick Rallye. I am also interested to know if anyone has experience with a 10" w/ 5" backspacing. Sure would be nice for hooking

They don't come cheap. Sure would be nice to know if they are going to fit with any tire and what the largest tire anyone has run with them.

The guy can make wheels any size you want. He takes your original center and puts it in a new wheel, 15x10's are $185 each, from post #30 in the above thread:

"I take rims in on trade. Everytime I make a wheel, I have to have a wheel to cut apart. Man, I go thru a lot of wheels. I have probably 800 wheels stacked around and against my garage and my wife just hates it. BUT SHE DON'T COMPLAIN WHEN WHEN I SELL A COULE OF SETS!! If you traded in your 14 x 6 or old 15 x 7, these are the centers I would use for your wheels. Make sure the lugnut holes are good and round (not hogged out). The price of doing your wheels got cheaper by $20 each. I will do the same process as before just on your centers. The sizes I can do is 14 x 6, 14 x 7, 15 x 6, 15 x 7, 15 x8, 15 x 10s all in chrome!!14s are $199 each , 15 x 7s are $110, 15 x 8s are $120, 15 x 10s ar $185ea. Thanks, Curt!"

I run 15x10's on my car. I have 5-5/8" backspacing to center the wheel in the wheel well. Some cars have 5.5". These cars are not all the same. Quality control on the line was not a top priority back then. I've found from talking with others and looking/measuring other cars that there can be as much as 3/8" difference in the back wheel wells because of frame to body mounting, rearend mounting, etc. I've only seen one car that needed more than 5-5/8", and if you get that, you can always shim it back to 5.5" to make it fit perfectly.

Depending on the tire you run will also affect how the backspacing works out. I have 325/50R15's on my car and it's very tight. I had to trim the top of the outer wheel well to insure no rubbing and I can just fit my finger inbetween the tire and frame. That is as wide a tire as you can fit without having to modify the car. You may get away with a 5" backspacing, but make sure the tire is about 1" narrower than my tire. Here are the specs:

    Tire Overall Diameter: 27.9''
    Average Roll Out/
    Circumference: 88''
    Tire Tread Width: 11.0''
    Tire Section Width: 13.0''
    Wheel Diameter: 15''
    Spec Wheel Width: 10''
    Tire Weight: 36.0 lbs
    Size Equivalent: 28'' x 13.50'' - 15''
