Will a 1971 12 bolt chevy 30 spline axle with C clip eliminators fit in a 1971 10 bolt with an after market 30 spline eaton L/S carrier? Cause i can get a good deal on some Moser axles with eliminators on them,but they are for a chevy 12 bolt. I have an olds (O) 12 bolt with 28 splines and have no use for it. thanx
I'm pretty sure that the c-clip eliminator kits use a bearing that is larger in diameter than the bearings on the axles of 8.5" rears.
OK... 1971 10 bolt...??? WHAT size diff? 10 bolt 8.2 chevy? 10 bolt 8.5 Buick? Buick has bolt in axles already and will not be able to be used with 30 spline c-clip axles with c-clip elim kit 10 bolt 8.2 chevy rear can kit the axles and can work with the housing BUT NO carriers with 30 spline were made for the 8.2 so again no. IN this case you are barking up the wrong tree and even though the axles MIGHT be a great deal you will have no housing to fit them in...SO money NOT spent well here. Jim YOU need a c-clip 8.5 rear or a c-clip 12 bolt chevy rear to use the 30 spline elim kit 30 spline axles. NO 10 bolt 8.5 c-clip rears were ever produced for 1965-1972 so you might as well dump that idea. ONLY 12 bolt chevy will work. JIm sorry for the bad news...BEtter now then when you forked over the dough. Right?
So,,, If i had a 1972 8.5 10 bolt buick With a 30 spline Eaton L/S. Will the moser 30 spline axles With C-clip ELIM Kit for the 12 bolt chevy Fit ?? Or should i wait and buy all new for the 8.5 ,,, It is a single spin, but nice housing. Thanx for taking the time to help me with my rear.
