Since there is not a place for this question, I thought I would ask it here. I have a new locker (and it is new to me) will one of the axels unlock when you pull up to a stop sign ,stop, then take off? The car feels funny on take off from a stop sign.
Monzaz will ask what type carrier, but there is a 12 bolt "Lock Rite Locker" conversion LINK for an open carrier that only locks when the power is applied and unlocks when you let off the gas. Ray
Boy, pretty light on descriptive vocab here...lol FIRST OFF as stated... what type of locker / limited slip posi do you have? (pictures and will ID it) Next what is ' FEELS FUNNY' ? Your going to have to get more descriptive than this for some help. lol. IE banging, shimmy, shutter, etc. Does it happen in turns, straight or just on launch- light, medium, hard??? Thanks Ray, but I just installed a whole new carrier unit (locker). I removed a series four posi-unit with 4.10 gears and installed a series three locker unit with 3.90 gears. http://www.nationaldrivetrain.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/page23.html It is more of a shimmy.
Well that is a DETROIT LOCKER...YES they are a wacky feeling unit for street use. THey will in NO way feel like a standard limited slip unit you had in there...Your going to have to deal with it as it is a strength deal ... your giving up smooth and quiet for brute strength. Jim
Oh the other thing you might want to double check is your pinion nuts and backlash and carrier preload which will make that off the line complete stop to go WEIRD feel. Jim
