Axle seal is leaking. Is this difficult to fix on a 12 bolt? Thanks Frank

The 12 bolt is a C clip rear. The cover has to come off, and the C clip has to come off to get the axle out.

    cover off
    retaining bolt removed
slide spider gear cross pin out
push on the axle shaft into the housing... c-clip will fall out or you can take a magnetic and remove it too.
pull that axle outward until it is removed
inspect seal and remove with a 'J' hook tool
inspect and clean area (inspect bearing also while you are there AND bearing riding surface on the axle shaft too.)

8660S seal use a silicone sealant light coat on the outer diameter of the seal where it will press into the housing.
use a driver if you have one...IF NOT use a square piece of brass stock or even steel I guess, tapping the seal in squarely until the seal face meets the housing tube end ...YOUR done. SOMETIMES it may be required to recess the seal into the housing end to get the c-clip axle button end to go in far enough to insert them on the button slot end.

REMEMBER to oil or grease the NEW seal lip that will meet the axle machined surface OR the seal will burn up quick.

    GOOD luck... Jim

Performed as explained Jim. Only forgot to lube bearing surface. Anything I can do without doing again? Thanks Frank
