I have a Chevy 12 bolt posi, that was under a 70 Skylark. I want to know if it will fit under a 73 Century. Don't know if it will interchange or not. Any help would be appreciated.
be skinner and the top control arms are different the 73 should be an 8.5 be just as strong as the 12 bolt if you run 30 spline axels
I have a 12 bolt under my 74 GS. When I bought the car I was told it was from a Chevy. I think the carrier is modified perhaps by Moser because it has Moser axles and probably the 4.11 gears are also Moser. It also has a c-clip eliminator kit. The car was set up for the track when I bought it so I don't have that much info. on it other than it is a 12 bolt. Good luck. Mario.
they would have to mod the top control arms or the mount tabs on that car there different lengths on the 73 up cars than the 64-72 unless some of the 74 cars had 12 bolts that im unaware of i thought they all where 8.5s also the 64-72 rears where a inch narrower for the money it would cost you could build the 8.5 to just as strong for less money or work. good posi 30 spline axels etc...only way the 12 bolt will be stronger if you build it with 33 spline axels but you would be out double.
As they've said Van, No its not a direct swap as there are many diferences between the two. You're better off selling the 12 bolt to fund the 8.5 build. Less expensive and just as strong.
Thanks to all that responded. I did not think it would be a direct swap. I agree don't want to mess with modifications. Rather spend the money on an 8.5 when I am ready.
Yep I would buy the 12 bolt if a good deal make a few buck from it and add it to the 10 bolt 8.5 build. When your ready i have all the stuff to make the 30 spline conversion too...If you want. I will quote out a price and you can look else where and compare. Ok? Jim
