12 Bolt to 8.5 10 Bolt Swap

    I took the 12 bolt out of my 53 and put in the 8.5 10 bolt I just had built in it. The drive shaft is about an inch to long. Looks like the problem is in the yoke. I don't suppose they can be swapped?:Do No:

    It is not the yoke it is the pinion shaft length... The yoke only adds about 1/8 to a 1/4" max. Just find another drive shaft the correct lengtrh or cut the one you have or build a new one if your truck is a power house. :) Jim

    Cannot swap a 12 yoke to a 8.5 you can swap a 8.5 yoke to a 12 bolt chevy...Which we do a lot.

    Thanks for the info Jim. I think I will have one built. Its for my 53 Buick but you can call it a truck if you want to. I called it worse than that yesterday.:laugh:
