Thats a very cool chevy style 12 bolt, common in Canadian built buicks. the Identification code # is on the front passenger side axle tube

This car was built in Flint and Imported to Canada, sold at Old Mill Pontiac Buick.
I have not yet checked out what gears are in it , no tach in the car but it does not sound like it revs very high on the hiway.

    thanks

Yes, 12 bolt chevy rear. C-clip axles. Lots of parts for the rear.

12 bolt cover with the oil trough and it will have 12 bolts that hold the ring gear in place which is what makes a 12 bolt a true 12 bolt rear.

Yeah, not like Oldsmobile that tried to trick everyone. Their 12-bolt rearends only have 10 bolts on the ring.

I highly doubt they were trying to trick anyone....lol. Besides that is where we got the 10 bolt 8.5 posi from and bearing caps for the 8.5...So it was not all too bad. :)

In 1968-1970 All the GM lines were trying to build a better rear ...they took the best from all the designs and came up with the corp 10 bolt 8.5 which standardized the GM 10 bolt rear in the seventies.
