Does anyone know what is the widest tire size I can fit without any rubbing on a stock 68/69 Skylark? I would like to have 8" wide Buick rally rims and same size tire all around. Thanks for any help.

I have 15 X 7 with 245 X 60 on the rear and 235 X 60 on the front on my 69. They are quite tight on the rear because I can't get my hand above the wheel well to wash the tire on the rear, but they do fit. I would be leary of an 8" rim.

your maximum tire width is going to be heavily influenced by the rim backspacing as well.

i don't have a 68/9 lark to look at so i can't give you much in the way of specifics.

The 68/69 cars don't have as much room to work with in the rear for big tires/rims. I think some guys are running 15 x 8 rims with maybe 275 tires? It's all a matter of getting the backspacing right. Sorry I can't give you any better specifics. I'm running 15x7 rims with BFG Radial TA 245/60 15's. Not much room to spare to the wheel opening lip. I think some have to roll the lip to go as big as 275 wide. This topic has been discussed many times in the past, you might want to try out the Search function and see what turns up.

I got 15x8 repro Rallys with BFG TAs P235/60R15 in the front and P255/60R15 in the rear, no rubbing problems at all.
