I found some 15x10 rims but the backspacing is 6.5. After a quick glance i thought that it would work, but I thought i should check if anybody on here has tried it before. Its going on my 1970 model skylark. Thanks
I run 15x10's on my car with a 325/50R15 tire. Mine have 5-5/8" backspacing. typical is 5.5" and centers the wheel in our wheel wells. 6.5" is too much. Even with a 295 tire, you'd probably rub on the inside. Obviously plenty of room on the outside.
Thanks for the info. On the 72, we had 12.5" tires without a problem, on an 8" rim with 4.5" backspace. Tyler is building the 70 Race car, and is trying to put a 10.5" tire, and 30" tall or taller. The wheels he wants are hard to find now, and 6.5" backspace were all that were available. Guess we will wait for the 5.5 backspace.
I have 15x10 with 53/4 backspace i think the max i could go would be 6 and that might be really pushing it.I'm not the biggest fan of spacers but they are an option if you want to make this wheel work for you. Jamie
I would not race with spacers! The only other option would be a frame reconfigure and thats expensive and time consuming. best to use a off the shelf wheel. I also would probably not run a 8" rim with a 12 1/2 tire (not recommended) The contact patch would never be right. try to run 10 wheels for that wide of tire if you can. Mike Evans has 10 with center line on his 72 and its working with some quarter panel massaging
I am planning on cutting out the inner lip on the quarter panel, and possibly a minni tub. I am definatly going to run a 15x10, and NOT going to run spacers. Thank you all for the replies, I will not buy the 6.5" backspace but will continue to look for some 15x10 with 5.5"
Summit has their STAR wheels in the size you need for about 119 each. The matching fronts are 89 dollars.
