What tire size would you guys recommend for this combo?I was thinking 215/60's for the front and I've heard of people running 255's on the rear.Any help would be appreciated. The wheels are the two piece design,
    Thanks,
    Philip

245-60's all around lets you rotate them.

So,if I were to run 245's or possibly 255's on the rear I *shouldn't* have clearance issues?I know people out there are running ralleys on a 65.So come on people lol.
    Thanks,

Well I run 245/60r15 on the rear of my 64 "BUT" i use a 68-72 rear end 1/2" wider on each side i neded to " massage" my wheel wells a bit for clearance  but the look WONDERFULL with the stock rear end the only clerance problem you will have is with the exhaust pipes as they come around the axle other than that no troubles at all. on my 64 Post car I run 15X9.25 rims and 255/60r15' and the wider ( see above) rear and just a light ( many ) hits with a ball peen :spank: hammer  and they fit great :TU: i will try and post a pic of my clearance on my 64 HT one day soon

    ken

I do not think 245's on stock 15X7 buick wheels will NOT fit the front if your car is at all lowered like mine they do not clear the wheel well ( I like my cars low in the front and back )

This pic is of my 64 with 26X10.5 15 ET Streets on Custom 15X9.25 wide Buick rims and 15X4 Cragar SS fronts ( I just bought some 15X7 Cragar SS to widen to 9.5 for the rear as well )

I have 255/60/15 in the rear and 235/60/15 in the front on stock ralley wheels. It has a chevy 66 8.2 rear end in it. The same width as the stock rear end. I will be going to 275/60/15 in the rear next.

Do you see any problems with going to a 275?I don't have the chrome trim around the wheelwell like most of you guys have.So I think that gives a little more room.
    Thanks,
    Philip

It will be close on the inside but the outside should clear. It will not be changed anytime soon since the car is apart now.

Sportwagon400,What all do you have done to the suspension on the car in your second Picture? It looks really good!!!What do you have for a drive train as well,I ask becuase this may affect the stance that you have versus what I may get.
    Thanks,
    Philip

The car has a 72 350 Buick 2004Rtrans and a 70 12 bolt chev rear stock original 64 springs are in the car as the 64 had aluminum heads the front springs are not as high a spring rate as the 65 and newer  sits nice and low, the rear are also stock 1964 my post car whish has a 455 SPTH400 uses the stock springs as well with factory spacers ( from year one ) under the front springs :eek2: Here is a picture of the two of them together .... but the post car had a trunk full of race tires and is sitting a little higher in the front than it usually does :Brow: I have 4 - 1964 Skylarks at the moment and all have different combinations. If you look at the rear control arm angle it should be as close to parallel to the ground for best traction at the track and this still gives a great ride and wonderfull handeling. All of my cars have the 1 1/4" front sway bar as well as a factory rear bar, most of them use TransAm steering boxes as well. I drive all 10 of my cars from time to time none are "stock" suspension and most will out handle 80% of cars on the road :eek2:

    Hope this helps

The gold car is being built to do a tour around North America in about 2-3 years ( 6 -7000 miles )

I ran 275-60-15 BFG drag radials on 15x7 buick wheels on the back of my 65 GS with no clearance issues. Had 14" wheels on the front with 215/75/15 tires. Car had a nice look. Sorry no pics and i do not own the car anymore.

I just can't get over how good your gold 64 looks!!I also have a 1 1/4in sway bar in front and a 1in in the rear.I haven't driven the car yet because I'm still workin on the brakes, but I hope it handles good.Hmmm, now what would I have to do to get a similar stance on my 65??I'll have to look into it.I have air bags(airlift) in the rear. And even though the rear has new cargo springs,it still sags quite a bit.My main concern is getting the front that low.But I don't want to scrape my headers up.I'll try to borrow a digital camera and take some pics.
    Thanks,
    Philip
