I picked up a new set of Wheel Specialties 15x8 Reproduction rally wheels and wondered on the size of tire I should order. I am going to get BF Goodrich TA tires and wondered about size. Front 245/60/15 Back 275/60/15 Will those sizes work without rubbing issues. I am currently running the exact back tires now but I am curious to what size will work for the front? Any help appreciated This is for a 70 Skylark. Thanks Dustin
Dustin, I am running the exact same combo, I don't have any rubbing issues in the front. The back tires will lower (numerically) your gear ratio by about 5% or so though. I think I did the math on mine and it takes it from a 3.55 to a 3.39.
15x8's I run 15x8's on the rear of my GSX AND i use 295-50/15's and they do not rub at all but they are close. I live 3 miles from Speciality Wheel in Troutdale Oregon. I even run alum. drums on the rear and they still clear. The diameter is almost exzactly the same as the fronts on my car which are 245-60/15's
rally wheel reproductions? Where can I find some Rally wheels for a 68 wildcat? is it true they make reproductions these days? I couldnt find any repro wheel companies online...?
You must have the correct backspacing to run the 295/50 in the rear. You will need a 5" backspace. Tim
Dustin, Make sure to check the height difference between those two tires. Pretty substantial! I think some most folks are finding the 4.5 backspace works ok with 295. Mike, can you confirm??
