Looking for a source that I can order a steel 15x8 wheel with a 5 inch backspace. Just need cheap ones to mount new 275/60R15's on. Going on my 68 Skylark.

Did you have to do any modifications to get 275 to fit?

I just found those too, thanks. Those will do if I can't find a solid wheel without the kidney bean slots. Unless they grow on me the plan is to order a custom Torque Thrust D eventually. Current tires are dry rotted so I need a cheaper wheel to mount new tires on. No wheel cover, just the drag look to run around on.

I haven't fit them yet, just took some measurements. I'm hoping to borrow a used tire locally to test fit. Then order the wheels, test fit, followed by tires. It looks pretty tight to be honest but I'll follow up on here.

I am thinking 15x8 on back on my 68 and 255/60/R15s but if 275s fit…

Still debating that Corvette Rallye with 5 inch backspace or the 15x8 Buick Rallye reproduction which has 4.5” backspace.

Torque Thrust Ds look nice. Didn’t see those before. Was also considering Crager SS. Torque Thrust Ds look like they have some similarities to Cragers.

I like Cragers on just about everything. I bought this with the TT D's on it and just liked the look with the white paint. Never going to be restored so it'll be my 80's high school era car with a decent rake to it.

This car comes up alot in web searches and it has the stance I'm after.

I was debating on that one as well. I'm kinda holding out for a flat steel wheel so it doesn't look akward with my front wheels. The price is the tempting part with those. They're also not DOT if it matters much. Speedway is a 40 minute drive so tempted to try them out without mounting to get backspacing correct.

Special ordered Torque Thrust's in 15x8, 5.5" backspace are $580 a wheel. So..., picking up a set of TT D's in 15x8, 4.5" bs tomorrow and will measure it in place. May end up with a 255 after all.

15x8” with 4.5” bs is what I’m looking at too.

And it kills me they only make my 4.5 bs wheel in gunmetal or black, not the light gray originals..

Well I got the 275/60's under there. The lip was previously cut and the wheel well was rolled at some point. Not sure that it would be necessary for these though as there is still a 1/2" or more with the 4.5" backspacing. I am not level either, like the back end a little higher.

Nice. Looks great. I decided on stock original 15x7 rally wheels which are 4-3/8” bs. I found the wheels but still working on getting them taped up and the web repainted.

Pretty cool to have that big of a tire in there.

That'll look good as well. This being just a Custom it's not worth restoring or keeping too close to original so just a throw back cruiser for me. One more item done, 1,743 more to go.
