Like the title says I am looking for some help with what I can fit. I just got some 15x8s for the rear of my 66 and they have a 4.5 back spacing. I know I can fit a 255 but can I fit a 275 in the back on the stock set up without it dragging the outside of the fender? I was looking at putting these MT's on mine http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MTT-6030/ but i wasn't sure if the 275 would be too big and if I should just get the 255s. If anyone has done this before any info would be greatly appreciated thanks!

I can't see how u hope to get sure big tires under your car.
I have a set of ARE wheels with a 4" back space and the rims almost touch the outer fender. I don't think I can get anything larger than a 235 60 15 under mine.

Be interested yo see pictures of your set up if it works.

I have modified the inner lip of the fender so that its not sticking way in. I have 235/70s on mine at the moment and they have about 2 inches of room before they would hit the outside of the car. I had some old 295s that took up the entire well side to side so i know I cant get that under there but Ill be sure to show what I got if I get the 275s under there. Ive got some old tires I guess ill just mount them on the wheel and try it out and see if it works.

Did you roll the fender lip?

See you are in Springfield, my wife and my son both went to SWMS. Neither managed to graduate!

I can just fit 255/60-15's with 15x7" Buick mags on my '66's.
These wheels have a 4-3/8" backspace. Front spacing is 3-5/8" for a total of 8" edge-edge. 7" wide at the tire bead. Works out to a 3/4" offset.

Your 4-1/2" backspace on the 15x8 wheels will move the tire out a bit. You want to go the other way and move them inwards. 5" backspace would be better.

I've got 275's on my blue car, but it's a 12 bolt rear that is 1" narrower than stock, it moves the tires in 1/2" each side which is perfect.:TU:
