16 inch 1970 sport steering wheel

    looking for a 16 inch black sport steering wheel in nice condition for my stage 1. i need the complete assembly, hub and center cap .

    Steve,
    Be prepared to wait...those wheels are hard to find since not many were made. There is one on Ebay now from a 69-70 model but it is cracked and brown/tan.

    If the Stage 1 GS steering wheels are the same as the other sport/comfort wheels you might try Joe Orecchia at Gmgold70@aol.com. I got a red one from him complete with horn button, etc.

    1970 is different in that its 16" . Ver hard to find in good condition or any condition for that matter . Most of the Ebay cars you will see that they have the smaller 15" wheel on them . Sounds like its not that easy to see the difference but it is .

    Dan,
    The 16" versions are very easy to spot they have a "thumb" groove.
    The 15" versions have a perfectly round grip.

    Good to know.I just bought a 70 Stage 1.It has a wood grain 16" wheel.I have a wheel from a 72 Stage 1 and it is a black 15".I'm not sure what you mean by thumb groove but both wheels have the finger grooves on the back.Glad I read your post as I was going to swap the wheels.
