    Guys,

I am getting a sweet deal on some Boyds. $450 for a full set of Coddington Rallye wheels 18x8 with 4.5" bs. They come with a full set of brand new 225/45/18 on them. I am putting them on a 67 GS400. How big can I go with the back tires on an 18x8 with the 4.5" bs? I know 245 will fit all around as I have test fit a set, but will anything bigger fit in the back with the 4.5" bs?

Nah, they won't fit your car at all. :puzzled: I'll take em off your hands for cost just to help you out.  !!

I have 17x10 Coddingtons with 275/40/17 tires on the back of my '71 Olds 442, they fit nice and ride very good as well. The front ones are 17x8 with 245/45/17 tires

    Cheers
    John

    John,

My concern is with the 8" rim and 4.5" bs. I am don't think I could fit a 275 on an 8" and even if I could, I wonder if it would fit in the back.

I have 275/60-15's on 15 X 8" Buick wheels with 4.5" B.S.. They fit great. The rims are 17" instead of 15". That doesn't change the B.S. Requirement. A 275/50-17 would be 27.8" tall. That would be fine for the back of a 70-72 GS, not sure on the 67.

    Larry,

They are on your 70 though correct? I know the 67 body is much tighter. I don't want to buy and then be stuck with the 275 tires if they don't fit.

If I was you, I would bolt the rims on the car and take some measurements.

I don't know if that is enough backspace for a 67 to allow you to go too much bigger. More backspace would be ideal. For that price though, I would buy them and either run them until the tires are gone, or just pull the tires and save them for the front, and have the tire shop measure and size what will fit in the back.

Here is what George P. (staged67gspwr), the 67 guru, said about his car:

18x10 with a 5 3/4 backspacing with a 295-35-18 tire,i have the quarter lip tucked it as well as the inner part of the molding but keep in mind i have a `67 chevelle 12 bolt rear in it which is narrower than the original 10 bolt that was in there,up front i have an 18x8 with 5" backspacing with a 245-40-18 tire

I'm not sure about your specific car but idealy you wouldn't want to go wider than a 255 on an 8 inch wide rim.
