Awhile back I had to pick up a car in Downtown Tacoma - I was just given an address. I arrived in the afternoon to quite a sight ... A Buick Dealership covering 2.5 acres and over 80,000 square feet built in 1948. Shuttered in 1962 it was acquired by Walter Sharp in 1995. Thanks to Walter - it still stands To keep the lights on - he rents to : A Vintage Scooter Hobbyist whose day job is in Aerospace A 1950's themed rental hall with diner General vehicle storage Vehicle Consignment @ http://collectorcar.com/ These images are stills from several videos I took and posted on my Facebook Page: Facebook @ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100005456325407 FJ
Thanks ! The cost of demolition is what saved the building. Getting there with my truck & trailer to pick up was a challenge - even with trucker GPS - the streets are very steep. Walter has cool tenants -Jason has a full time in Aerospace and rents space for his vintage scooter business. FJ
When I was a young-n growing up in Tacoma I used to go down town to the Mueller Harkins dealership and drool on the new Buicks. My good friend Paul Lauch rented the service area during the 80s and I rented a space from him. Paul built the 455 BBB I used in my 64 Skylark to bracket race and sits in my 53 now! This is where we entered the area that Paul had rented! https://www.google.com/maps/@47.259...4!1sOSUpAewtCoj5CUdldvoLxA!2e0!7i16384!8i8192 Bob H.
Here are still images from a video of what was the Parts Department - now it is the event center for private parties. FJ
