    I was wondering if someone knows of a web page where I can decode my trim tag.

    Vin # 4C3051135

    Trim Tag
    MOD 56-41
    Style 56-4469
    Body # BL 5116
    Trim 423
    Paint CGG
    Top ACC F

    Thanks for any help.

    4= Body Style

    C= 1956

    3051135 = serial number

    4469 = 4 door sedan (I think)

    BL = Linden ( NJ) Plant of manufacture

    CGG = Two tone paint Dover White/ Cambridge Blue/ Cambridge Blue (?)

    Trim 423= Fawn vinyl (?) interior ( It was in later years but I am just guessing for 1956 that it may have been the same)

    Let me know if any of this looks like your car. We do not take a crack at decoding Buicks of this vintage very often. I could be way off.

    Thanks Jim,
    It is black primer now, thats why I was looking to decode it. The inside is blue, so that would be right I guess, where did you come up with the info? I also have a 1955 Chevy DelRay and finding info on line is easy. Not so easy for the Buick, but it is a nice car. Thanks again.

    You can see the paint info at www.autocolorlibrary.com. The rest are from reading betweeen the lines on dealer books I have.

    Hi Mike

    This link might help you : http://www.buicks.net/years/56.shtml

    But Jim (Flynbuick) is right on the money !

    4 is for the Special-series and C is for the year, 1956, and 3 is for Linden, NJ plant starting at number 3001001

    On the Trim tag

    4469 is the Special four door sedan

    Trim 423 is a two tone blue : medium blue Nylon and Light Blue Cordaveen

    There was a three tone body colour option in 1956, thats why theres three letters, first one is the colour of the roof, second letter is above the beltline molding and third letter is below the belt line.

    CGG as in your case is correct as Jim stated to be Dover White/ Cambridge Blue/ Cambridge Blue
