Possibly the coolest rear end design of any car ever built.

I recall a spring day in the late 70's, I was about 13, and exploring one of the Many Junkyards in the Northern Suburbs of the Twin Cities with my Dad. It seems my Mom had backed our 70 Electra into something, and broken the tail light lens.. and my Dad was not about to pay the "obsene prices" the dealer wanted for a new one.

This was before the purchase of my GS 400 convert, I actually was teetering on the brink of being a Pontiac Guy.. A guy in our neighborhood had a sweet 69 GTO.. Used to love to hear him slowly row thru the gears on our street.

As we were scouting for said Tail light, I was stopped dead in my tracks, by a sight that I recall to this day.. some 38 years later

It was just like this one, A 58 Ragtop Limited, in black... I thought it was the coolest car I had ever seen, and I first saw it from about this angle.. I looked at Buick in a whole different light after this.

I'm with you Jim, I think these cars are awesome. The rear is kinda like a '57 Chevy on steroids dressed up for the ball. Way cool!

I had a similar experience in a junkyard with my Gramps back in the mid 60's. It was the first time I ever saw a Buick with buckets and console. It was a'62 Wildcat and I had no idea that Buick built a sporty car. I thought that was pretty cool and at the time, I had no clue that a Gran Sport even existed.
