Hey Folks! I'll be starting this conversion soon and will be documenting it here to share with all of you.

I will be using the www.scarebird.com brackets, which will allow me to mount off the shelf components available at your corner auto parts store. In this case I will use 1976 Bucik Riviera calipers, pads and rotors.

Some unknowns for me at this point are:

    1. Will I have a vacuum port available for the booster on the stock 364 Nailhead?

    2. Does the firewall have a four stud pattern to mount the vacuum booster?

    3. It appears that the stock master cylinder has a pressure style brake light switch. I assume that I should be able to relocate this inside the car on the pedal like a regular '60-'70's style switch.

    4. I will be installing either a 10lbs residual valve for the rear brakes or an adjustable prop valve for the rear bais.

    5. Will the stock steel wheels fit over the new calipers and rotors? Are the bolt patterns the same?

I will post pics of the Scarebird brackets soon and of the off the shelf Auto Zone/Kragen Rivi components as well.

Total parts estimate on the upgrade will be about $650. Most of the time consumed on this mod will be in the brakeline creation.

If anyone has some input or things to look out for or something I haven't thought of yet, just chime in. :TU:

  2. another 58 thinking about that conversion.

I wish I had picks to show you whatI've done so far, and I'll be watching your posts to see more of yours. Mine had power brakes to start with so replacing it with another booster wasnt to bad. I used a 89 s-10 booster and master and the booster ancor lugs were alot smaller than the buick stock location. After I had given the machine shop both the old and new boosters and said center it up, 50 bucks a couple days later it was good. Sorry no I'm not taking it apart to give you precise measurments, :Brow: actully I might if you send me measurements, dimentions, and basic directions to the conversion kit you got :Brow: Just a thought.

The presure switch I just located with brass fittings lower down out of sight. I thought it would be simpler then going the other route.

The push rod, I cut off the old one and welded it to the new one, good to go.

I drew a small diagram, its missing the push rod but I'm sure you get the point. Just trying to show you what I was babbling about.

I'm curious about the lug patern for the wheels, will they be the same, not that I didt need a exuse to spend more money.

Have you had to rebuild the engine yet? Any 4 barrel intakes and carbs layn around?
