Looking for a fully restored or original 1964 or 1965 Wildcat convertible with a factory 4 speed. According to Manheim: car in 1- condition are worth around $ 15,000 to $ 18,000
There isn't many of either in any condition. I can only think of one '65 in red (specialwagon65) and one '65 in green. The green one has been on and off ebay several times and it's authenticity is in question. I think the green one started at 25k. It was billed as a true LX425 2x4 4sp. However, the experts here pretty much picked it apart. As far as Ted's (specialwagon65) fully restored 4sp convertible, you better be the first in line at the funeral home to buy it from the executor of his estate.....that is if he doesn't take it with him. Rick
True, and a 70 Stage 1 convertible 4 speed in Show condition is worth $90k+ according to them. I don't think you will find either in that condition for the Manheim price. Someone I know has one, and you know who you are, and if you are willing to sell it for this price, email me!!!!!!!! :>)
Right you are Rick!:beer BTW, there was a 4-speed coupe in Hemmings, kind of a project, but all there.
I do have a 64 Wildcat convert for sale, it is the lowest milage most original Wildcat in the country, at 27,000 miles the car looks like it just rolled off the assembly line. It is also one of the best driving cars I have EVER owned. You wont find a better example of a 64 anywhere. The price will be no where near that Manhiem price range. If you are truely interested, you can call me at the office to discuss. 319-247-2403
Mark, you beat me to it. I was going to direct him your way! No to rain on your parade, TedB1965, but a real-deal 64-65 4-speed Wildcat conv. in the shape you want for under 35K is a rare, almost non-existant, animal. Price guides are usually way off on these cars because they 1. are very very few in numbers, and 2. almost never change hands, especially not in the auction circuits where the price guides get a lot of their pricing. Good luck, and get in contact with Mark, he has a great car.
Hi there Matt. I assume you got the 68 parts, are they what you wanted? I am going to be selling both of the 4 speed cars, it's getting to a point with my knee that I cant hold the clutch in without using my arm to take the pressure off the knee. The effects of a motorcyle accident, and getting older have taken a toll on me.
There's a Big 4 spd Olds convertible on Sac Craigslist . I've never even seen another one . Good Luck
IIIII Want one toooo!!!!!! :ball: :ball: I want a Coupe though, and of course just '65! What about that Coupe in Hemmings??? Anyone knows anything? Thanks!
I was reading an old car magazine a few days ago that included a feature on Buick's experimental engines (and production engines, too). The article stated that the Nailhead with a turbocharger almost made it into production for the '65 Wildcat. Could you imagine that 4-speed red convert with THAT turbo engine?
Believe me, Hawken, I'd bet everything I own that Ted has thought that very same thing several times (as well as I have for my black 4-speed 64). There were several reasons, unfortunately, that that motor didn't make it into production, one of them being it kept breaking rear ends and driveshafts. Sure'd be an awesome combo for sure! Matt
I was told by Dennis Manner that the problem with the experimental turbo Nailhead in the test mule was that it kept twisting the input shaft of the trans. He specifically mentioned the trans being a Dynaflow. Also, not sure which article Ted is referencing but the turbo Nailhead project was in the works long before the `65 model year. I have a copy of the `63 factory assembly manual and there are diagrams which plainly illustrate the `63 Riv WITH A TURBO!! :3gears: Tom Mooney
I am just looking for a "stock" 1964 Wildcat convertible (4spd or auto) preferably on the West Coast. #2 or #3...ray:
Here you go! I wish I had 50 grand laying around as I would snatch it up:dollar: http://www.oldcaronline.com/ocdetail264021.htm
Here is a red Coupe! http://www.autotraderclassics.com/find/vehicle/vehicleDetail.xhtml?adId=86740&conversationId=87118
I saw and drove the red 64 in KC. Wothout fail, the worst car I ever drove, steering is so loose at speeds over 35 mph it is unsafe, the 4 speed linkage is so worn that it is nearly impossible to find the gears. Good luck fixing that problem. Car was originally silver, now red. There is a large gap in the trunk metal behind the bumper where they forgot to reweld the panels. The car has been horribly abused, and is being sold as a low milage car. NO WAY! I have owned one of the finest 1964 4 speed convertible Wildcats in the world so I feel I am a good judge of what is right with these cars. The red one, aint right!
Mark, every time someone brings up that red car and asks about it, I just send them your way! ...and yes, your yellow car was second to none...
