Hi all - This weekend I converted my aluminum finned drums in the front to Disc brakes on my 64 Rivi. I bought the brackets from Scarebird. They fit and worked flawlessly. The only problem I encounted in the job was in the plumbing department. My pass-side hard line was not cooperating when I tried to disassemble it from the old flex line. Of course the fitting nut stripped and that was the end of that line. I had to bend and fit a new line( about 7.5 feet worth). Came out ok but a factory bent one would really look nicer to anyone under the car I might run over :Brow:

I installed the dual master cylinder. Put Line locks on the fronts and I used an adjustble proportioning valve from inline tube to manage the rear. I was going to take some pics but there really isn't much to see. The one thing that did change is the alignment - causing a positive camber. (bottom of tires are closer together). I will have the car re-aligned and all will be well.

I will be putting the drums and backing plates on a parts for sale thread if anyone is interested.:3gears:

    Anthony,
If you don't mind saying what was the total cost to do the job? Also do you have to change the master cylinder? I was reading on Scarebird's site that you did not have to change it,or did I read that wrong. I want to change mine on my 65 Cat. What Rotors and calipers did you use?
Could you post some pictures of the set up with out the wheel on?
    Don

Don - it was an easy bolt on Job ( except for bending a new line to the pass side :af: ). I used a dual Master for a 71-76 Rivi. I would not go with a single master just for the sake of safety. Scarebird will send you a parts list(he'll email one to you if you request it, you can get everything from NAPA). As for pics. Next time I take a wheel off I will take some shots. Not really much to see, you can see the bracket on the site and the calipers just bolt right on it. Excellent product I highly recommend. :TU: About $400 +/- a few buck

    Dutck Wildcat,
Thanks for the Pictures :TU: I now get a better understanding of how the bracket fits.
What cat is yours? The Black one I thought but the Red one is very cool also.
Can I ship my 65 Cat over and have you do my brakes......
This is a great :gp: for me. I am the type of person who needs to see pictures or how something is done right in front of me, I guess I don't get or take directions to well :idea2:

Did you change the vacuum booster or use the 71-75 BigGM? Did you have to modify the brake pedal rod? Also my front brake flex lines are too long. What did you use to replace them?
    Thanks Dan

i used the original booster from 64,you only must look if you're mastercilinder has a deep piston hole or a shallow piston hole, because there are 2 type's of mastercylinders.

    Moraine is shallow piston hole

    Bendix is deep piston hole
