It is funny, he has had it since 78, and knows it is one of 454, but doesn't realize it isn't a Gran Sport (or even a Grand Sport), but rather a standard Riviera ordered with the A-8 option, which is the same engine as the Riviera Gran Sport. There were 3,354 Gran Sports built in 65. The remaining 454 dual four engines were installed in standard Rivieras as an A-8 engine option. This is more rare than a Gran Sport, but not necessarily more desirable.
I like the rivets on that VIN. uzzled: There was a guy by the name of Joseph Wilson , maybe related, out of Alexander City to the east towards Wadley that had these cars. He used to have a '64 Wildcat that had dual quads and a junkyard full of desirables. Even a '72 Trans Am for 10K and some old Maseratis and other exotics. He went to jail a few years ago for some car sales related problems the "State" went after him for.
