I've read the few posts here about which axle bearing should be used on the 65 Skylark GS 10 bolt posi rearend, but the responses seem to leave a little confusion between the RW507AR's, RW507AC's and the RW507GR's. I got the impression the RW507AR is the smaller bearing and will not fit, but the RW507AC is the correct bearing? I'm also under the impression the RW507AR will fit and for some reason was the designation used for the wagon bearings? Just want to make sure I order the correct bearings.

Also, has anybody had any experience with the Timkin bearings? I've looked online and they have axle bearings listed they claim will fit the 65 GS posi unti, but I'm a little skeptical. I called and spoke with one of their reps and he made the same claim, but then again, they probably don't know much about the minor differences in the Buick posi units for 65/66/67.

Thanks and everybody have a great day.....

    Larry:

Thank you for the link. Contacted jdrace and spoke with Jim and ordered a rebuild kit. Price, including shipping was more than reasonable.

    These are the bearing sets

RW507CR - THIS IS THE AVERAGE BASE 1964-1969 PONTIAC BUICK OLDS BEARING (1.382 SHAFT DIAMETER WITH SMALLER OUTER DIAMETER THAN THE GR OR AR BEARING.)

RW507GR - WAS THE LARGE AXLE 1.437 AXLES SHAFT AND LARGE OUTER BEARING DIAMETER ALSO (USED IN 66-68 GS AND 66-68 SPORT WAGON OR VISTA CRUISER WAGONS LATE)

RW507AR - WAS THE SMALL 1.382 AXLE SHAFT SIZE WITH THE SAME OUTER GR BEARING DIAMETER (USED ON VISTA CRUISER WAGONS EARLY 64 65)

sO UNDER THE TIMKIN BEARING AND SEAL BOOK THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE. THIS IS NO BIBLE IN ANYWAY OR FORM... It appears it does not list a 65 GS axle bearing only a skylark axle bearing being a rw507cr.

NOW - final note. When ever doing a Buick axle bearing you should pull it and measure the axle shaft diameter right before the retaining collar and the outer diameter of the axle bearing or the inner diameter of the axle flange where the bearing is seated in the housing. This will get you the correct bearing every time. :) Jm

    Hope This helps everyone...
