His ad said it has power locks--I don't remember seeing them on a 65 Riv--is this for real?

Those "buy it or it's scrap" ads always make me think of this cover from National Lampoon.

no theres nothing wrong....i just dont play in the field that i dont know a lot about...ive only had 2 rivs in my life, and i drove them til they died...and one was a real 425 dual quad 64 riv...i pulled the drivetrain and put it a skylark when the car got rusty....ya i know m a dousche nozzle for that one...im pretty clueless on them

66 was the first year fr power locks...i had a 66 bonnie with power locks...it had one button on the drivers door panel..and they where vacuum

plus....theres people ya just dont mess with, like this guy..his ads are kinda durogative...if your gonna crush it why run the add for months and not just get to it....i find guys like this dont want to sell anything, they want you to come over and look at their junk, and want to tell ya how cool it is and how cool they are...and to threatening to crush it is not a way to sell a car...why waste the time and energy ....

Mark is spot on here. I have seen a few guys actually scrap cars they said in the CL ad they were going to scrap, but you can usually tell the difference.

If he's going to scrap it, then why not offer it for sale at the scrap yard price?

    Brian,

You can not argue with these math wizards.....I have numerous stories where I offered 2-3 times what the local yards offer for such a car....owner states "car is worth more than that....I hand them my number and tell them to call me before calling the yard"

Guess what......every time it happened......I get a call from the yard (I am the only "Buick guy" in the area) "Hey George, we just got in an old Buick.....it is a ?????? Guess what, I get there...and lo and behold....there is the same car I just offered the guy $600 for it 3 weeks ago...guess what....yard bought it for $250.....so the lesson we learned......$250 is greater than $600??????? NO....just learned the owner is an IDIOT!:bla: :bla: :bla: :bla: :bla:

Exactly! And this leads to my comment above. I saw a craigs list ad selling 64 Buicks up in Minnesota, 3 of them. One looked complete and straight so I emailed an offer of $500 for it (unsolicitated).

I said something like "How about $500, that's a little more then scrap. I would hate to see that car crushed."

To my amazement, he responded "OK"

In his ad he clearly stated he was going to crush the cars if no one wanted them.

ooooohhhh George that would be so tempting to call the guys back and say "then why did you...." Thanks I just bought it for $300..... dumbasses.

You are active in this project/parts car purchasing. I contact a lot of them too and just seems to me that few are getting restored or having serious money put in them yet the owners want lots of $$$.

To them (yard managers) I am the only Buick guy in the area...they see me every week sometimes twice.

Wheelz is another Buick guy in the area but not at the local yards.
