If you're having a hard time removing the bulb, sometimes you can pull on the wires at the back of the socket while pushing in and twisting on the bulb. If the bulb breaks off the socket, use a pair of needle nose pliers to dig in and twist the remainder of the bulb. -Josh
"Bayonet bulb pins". The bulb is pushed against a spring loaded base an dhas the two pins that hold it. Push in, twist clockwise about 10 degrees and reverse that to remove the bulb. You can also try a little Kroil or other penetrating oil, and push the bulb several times if it has corroded in place. And as GotTattooz, says, if it breaks.
I really having a problem getting to the bulb. Does it pop out or do I have to go through the front lens. I want to pull on the socket, but it's not giving.
Remove the plastic lens from the front of the bumper, two screws (and metal bezel on the 1965 GS) the bulb should come out when you push (moderate pressure) and turn counter clockwise. Buld should then "pop out". If you look at the housing, the bulb is in contact with a small round piece of PCB (Printed Circuit Board) and spring. Those components push back against the bult to make and keep contact. The housings and the bulbs often corrode, making removal difficult.
