Gents, I have availability to a 1966 Chevelle 12 bolt 3:31 posi for my 1970 GSX clone. The only problem is the ears (eyelets) on top were cut off. Is the housing cast steel or cast iron? I wanted to know because cast steel is able to be welded and repaired, cast iron cannot.
Hi Hugger, I understand that you might have a set of 8.2 4:78 gears? Would you consider selling them? Bill
Yo FREAK! Your INBOX is full..I tried to PM you regarding hood scoops you are inquiring about so if you want corrospondence... EMPTY YOUR INBOX!!! ou: :TU: Wheelz, Tampa Bay ---------- Post added at 03:22 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:18 AM ---------- WHO SAYS you cannot weld cast iron? uzzled: I know a welder that can weld anything and he HAS...so it can be done...PLUS, that 66 Chevelle rear end is narrower than your 70 rear end enyway...
It can be welded , drill for pins etc but I wouldnt trust it under any circumstances, if the ear does break at any speed other sitting still its goin to tear up a WHOLE lot of other stuff
i would grind them completely off smooth, maybe weld some leaf perches on it for a camaro and advertise it like that if you got it cheap enough to begin with.
Is the center section the same as a passenger car? Thinking you could weld the axel tubes to the center section, if one were available and the same as a chevelle. A good 66 chevelle 12 bolt is anywhere from $1500 and up.
