http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Buic...8daQQitemZ270533118170QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks Looks nice, but needs a little tlc. Not mine. OK cars are usually pretty rust free....Dan
That poor car has had a paint change and an interior color change...the chances of someone giving it the right love is thin...I think I'm gonna be sad for the rest of the day now
It's got the right engine and I don't know 66's, but isn't that Gran Sport on the grill a 65 emblem? I don't see anything GS anywhere else on it, other than the engine that wouldn't have come stock in a Skylark. Like I said, I don't know the 66's so I could be all wrong.
David- That is a true 66gs. Correct badging on grill, quarters, dash, and tailpanel. Correct vin for a 66 thin pillar coupe as well. Has been on craigslist for a few months prior to ebay.
Like I said, I don't know 66 cars. I do like the looks of them and the choice of engine. Wouldn't mind having one of them!! This one would do nice.
Don't be sad, Jimmy!! Just go out into your shop and turn on the lights. You'll feel all better. That's what I do, haha. Dan
Hey, No ..I'm trying to leave here this coming Friday.... I had to get new tires on the truck...the trailer re wired..bla bla bla...so hopefully it will happen this weekend coming up....
I wonder who the guy is that's asking all the engine ID questions??? Oh wait... I know who that is!:bla: Solid cars are a nice find. I think the price is just a little high. Interior looks original...Jim, was it changed??
Jimmy, Screw the trailer. Drive the damn thing. I hope your road trip includes Hot Springs, AR. I will ply you with Scotch whisky, free room and board, and the finest American quartz, as well as the upcoming race between the greatest two fillies to have raced, here at the local track. If that doesn't work, I will include a guided tour of Route 7 north out of Hot Springs. If you beat me, I will treat you to the best French dinner between St. Louis and New Orleans at Ste. Gemme Beauvais in St. Genevive, MO. Cummon! Are you a wummin or a man! The gauntlet is tossed. I must say, though, that if your '66 scares me, I'll drive my Stage 1. Dan
Yes Walt it was changed....the car was Blue mist..so red interior doesnt work with that.... I talked to the owner a year ago...and he told me he swapped it out of a skylark ....pretty sure it was black..when new
Weird... interior looks original red. I do see some blue exterior paint? in the trunk area. Dan's in Ar...not Az....big difference! We do have to get together sometime. :beers2: I'm more of a Blues and brew kind of guy. Whiskey will do me in ....quick! Now, New Orleans is my kind of town!... great food and music!:TU:
Vegas? Man, Hot Springs was the "playground" long before Vegas, and never tore down it's history. Heck, Lucky Luciano was arrested here. The Sheriff and local police once had a shootout in the street over control of the rackets. Vegas is all disneyfied, now. New Orleans is a cool town, but is ALL raw underbelly. Don't get me wrong....I like beer. It hits the spot on a hot summer day....but whisky is a man's drink, haha. Have a great trip! Dan
I was searching the site to figure out what "post" means and came across this thread. The more I read the better it got...beer and whisky. I like a variety of beer depending on the season. My everyday beer is Yuengling lager. I've tried a few wee drams too. I tend to like the less smoky/peaty single malts with a lasting finish...learned all about it from touring a few different distilleries in Scotland a couple years back. So now, I'm just being nosy. Whats your favorites?
I like dark beers...Guiness, Bellhaven and Sam Adams Double Bock. Scotch-wise, I like single malts, though I have never turned down a couple fingers of blends. For the money, you can't beat Glenfiddich, but Glenfarclas, Laphroag, Aberlour and Strathisla are what I give to friends. A friend of mine went on a whisky tour some years ago, and it sounded like a blast! I guess whisky is also a woman's drink.....:beer Dan
Ah, our local brew! One of my favorites too. :beers2: I favor the micro brews.... The particulars vary with the weather, but a chocolaty Stout is perfect on a crisp fall day, and a hoppy IPA or a lighter Heffeweisen goes down real well on a steamy hot summer day. One of my favorite summer events is the 10 day long Musikfest in Bethlehem, Pa. ...next to the music, the next best thing about the festival is the BrewWorks micro-brewery located at the far end. :beer I stay away from whiskey...it goes down too fast and gets me in trouble!
I highly recommend touring Scotland...it is a blast and not too touristy (not in 2008). The tours ran from FREE to a couple pounds and you get to try a dram or 2 or 3 depending on the distillery. I toured The Glen Livet, Glenmorangie, Praban na Linne (gaelic whisky), Bunnahabain, Laphroag, Bowmore, and Ardbeg. I have to give your whiskys a try. I like your choice of dark beers too. I've had Guiness at Guiness and it tastes the same. That was an expensive day and I didn't even get to see the actual brewery. Dublin, Ireland is overly expensive and touristy. Yes, it's a local brew for me too. I'm a PA girl. Well, my family if from a small coal mine borough in the mountains. One day I'm gonna plan a side trip to tour the brewery...maybe I could work in the festival too. My beer preference is all over the place. I like to try 'em all...sometimes I get lucky. I agree a chocolately stout is nice on a cool day. I like Pete's Wicked Strawberry Blond on a hot humid day, and VA has lots of 'em. I live right down the road from St. George Brewing Co. Fall Bock and Imperial Stout are their seasonal brews. I really prefer beer to whisky for the same reason as you. But, on those cool overcast misty days, I like to sip it and then switch over before I get in trouble. It's good to know we've got more in common than just Buicks.:beer
