There is a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado about 2 minutes from me. Would anyone like me to check it out, free of charge? www.autoallianceltd.com , pre-owned Silver, blue int, v-8, $3,995, auto. 21046miles.
Yikes!! Looking at it from the front, that thing would scare little kids as it rolled down the street! They are cool cars though! Brian
I grew up in a '66 Toronado!!! Gold/gold. If you have ever seen the old ad of the 2 Toronado's with no rear wheels on(one white and one gold) pulling travel trailers, my dad said that was his gold car in the picture. (That's what he told me several times when I was younger - who knows!) I've always loved the Toronado! :TU:
My god... could you imagine doing reverse donuts in that.... I read that every Tornado and Eldorado had a limited slip front end. it would be a cool car for sure.
You europeans, Always demanding PERFECTION  :moonu: Changed it. I might test drive the car, I know the dealer said someone already did once.
My dad had one of those "back in the day". Sky blue metalic with a black interior. My favorite thing on that car was the speedometer. It's like a compas, where the numbers move, but the needle stays still. That thing would do a mean smokey out of control FWD burn-out. It was cool!
Very simmilar, but on the Riv, the numbers go up and down. On the Tornado, they go left to right, and you can see the whole "drum" that the numbers are printed on... Not just a little window that shows a couple #'s at a time like the Riv.
Could always check with Jay Leno, since he put a turbo'd chevy motor in his 66 Toronado. Doubt he's gonna use the Olds parts anytime soon.
Sorry, not true. My Father owned a couple a '68 & a '72, and I had a '71 for a short time in high school. One wheel wonders. It sure was fun smoking the tires! Come to a stop, crank the wheel hard to the right and stomp on it! Since front wheel drive was not very common back then, the looks on peoples faces when they saw smoke pouring out of the front wheel well was priceless! :Brow: Oh! and driving in snow? The front drive cars of today are pathetic compared to these when it comes to traction in snow. Like a tank!
Ha-ha-ha  I remember my dad taking the Tornado down to western auto for a set of snow tires back in the late 60's. Got it back, and they had installed them on the REAR!!! My dad argued with the shop manager for a few minutes to convince him they were supposed to go on the front.
