IF this is a real GS California, then it will have a 340 V-8, 2 speed auto, open rear, vinyl top & "Star Wars" aircleaner. That being said, what can be seen of the motor appears to be a 340. The quarter emblem appears to be "funky", not sure if the 67's did the emblems that way or not. The seller is sure honest about the rust issue. Look at the vinyl top, when it comes off, so does the roof (convertable?). If a guy could come up with a clean body shell it would be worth doing. Jim '69 GS California
I dunno, i've seen the 400 CI have the starwars aircleaner in '67, and I think the 340 might've came with it as well, but im not sure. It's rare to find an older car with a good body anymore, if it's an unrestored original that has been driven quite a bit. For a rare car like this, to me, if I had the money, I would certainly buy it and give it a resto, rare car.
Maybe he's getting stuff mixed up. The 400cid is suppose to put out 340hp in 67' Both the 430cid and 400cid could have the "Starwars air cleaner." It was only available on the 67' GS 400 and the 67' Riviera GS 430.
That engine does not look at all like a 340. My valve covers are at a wider angle than that engine. Besides, the 1967 340-4 was red. BTW, the correct air cleaner for the '67 California GS was the style shown in the picture. Not a star wars or GS340 aluminum style.

interesting I am guessing the California badges added, this car looks to be a Special with the W1 GS Ornamentation package. V6 was standard with this option (300 & 340 optional) as was the hood with the chrome spear instead of the hood scoops. Package gave you The GS molding and trim only. Show, no go!!! California GS's also came standard with the Chrome wheels as this has the poverty caps. The Cali GS came standard with the 340 and the standard black air cleaner (unlike the GS 340 which had the chrome slotted air cleaner)
Good job Keith...I was ready to respond until I had seen your response. Not many GS folks know about the W1 GS "ornamentation package". There is no way to prove this kind of GS unless you have the original documentation.
