The shocks on the Sport Wagon were heavy duty. My question is; are the mounts and the length the same as the sedan? Have a chance to buy a set of Bilstein that fits the sedan at a great price, I am sure they would be stout enough, just need to know if they will fit .
I have taken a couple of photos and did a measurement if that is helpful to you. My Sportwagon has coil over shocks that I am sure are not OEM equipment as the car is 50 years old but coilovers if they were around in 1967 may have been OEM. My wagon also came with the automatic load leveling system that was missing the vacuum tank at the front of the car but the tubing and rear device was still there. I have removed the tubing and the equipment at the rear. Not sure the system would have worked with coil over shocks. So, my shocks as you see them in the photo are with the car jacked up with the jack under the pumpkin of the differential so it is as if the car is sitting on pavement and shocks not extended. The best I can measure says the shocks are 17 1/2" +- 1/2" long as it was tough to get the tape measure up in the pocket at the top of the shock. I do not have either of my other GS400's at the house so I can't measure what they are at the rear end but could get to it Monday or Tuesday. Hope this helps,
You are a great help and I appreciate what you are doing. Look forward to your response next week. Thanks again.
It probably is and I hope to show that when I crawl under one of my GS400's and take some photos and measurements.
