Planning on putting stock 15" Rally Rims on our 1967 GS convertible to replace the 14"s, and want that nice chubby tire look.

What is the fatest tire for the rear (without moding anything).
What would look good on the front (and won't rub).

(I was thinkin' 275/60/15 max for rear)

    Thanx TUFBUICK

Hey Ron, 275's are a very tight fit, they may not fit using wheels with a stock offset, the tires will be out too far.
My blue '66 has a 12 bolt rear which is one inch narrower than stock. Wheelwell lip is rolled up, and springs are a bit taller than stock. 275's just fit using 15x7 Buick wheels.
My other '66 has 255/60-15's on 15x7 Buick wheels. One side is tight, other side is okay.....
For the front, 235's fit well, 255's are too wide.
The biggest issues in fitting tires is wheel offset and ride height....
Hey, are you coming to Yardley's picnic??

Ron,in order to fit a 275 tire like i told your son-inlaw you`d have to get a offset of about 6",i have a 17x10 in my convertible with a 275 tire nd my offset is 6.50 i think the best offset would be 6.75 and you just make both ends from hitting.

    Thanks

My 67 has a 72 skylark rear end, the inner fender lips are rolled , my 15" Buick ralleys are cut and widened with a 1" spacer just behind the center hub to make an 8" wheel. Widening the wheel 1" inward pulled the sidewall away fron the fender and used wasted space by the frame. Now I can run MT Street 28x12.5-15 tires.
MY friend had to loosen the body/frame bolts and shake the body to and fro until the wheels were centered in the wheel wells on both sides. His car was very uneven, with one side rubbing the tire.
To prevent rubbing while driving, add a sway bar and upper control arms with QA-1 joints on the crossmember end & with poly on the axle end should hold the body very straight.
