So many pics and such a wordy add You would think Craigslist charged by the pictures and words Looks like a decent deal if solid
Nuts! I'm just going to have to run the ones I'm going to post by you beforehand haha.....flagged it.
Why do you feel it is a scam, I always advertise in multiple cities when I sell something on CL. I am not saying it isn't but just because it is in multiple cities?
Why a scam? 1) Car looks too good for $6K, he's counting on someone trying to scoop it with a Western Union deposit and then he'll disappear. 2) One picture, no information, fairly generic. 3) Brief description of product, no number to contact for more info outside of the ad. Most people who can't or won't write will leave an avenue for an interested party to phone them. Anyone who's ever sold a car on CL, eBay, or where ever knows that pictures and descriptions sell the car, not oblique folksy worded ads and a bad picture. It takes quite a bit of work to get someone to part with their money on a Buick or a big car, so this just screams "danger". 4) You're right, multiple cities doesn't mean anything. However, multiple cities with local addresses showing on each ad at different times of the year are a red flag. I could easily be wrong, but I would assume that's what Chris meant here. If I'm watching a car, I like to watch it go through a cycle or two before I make a move on it; invariably with big cars one has the time to do that.
Yep, yep, yep. I am sure if I wasn’t on my phone, but on a computer, I could find the real ad for $10k plus more where h took the pic from.
http://www.timelessrides.com/381287 Because this listing shows multiple images of the same car, for more than twice the asking of the CL add, and more information. But then, maybe the seller became desperate and justs wants to dump the piece of junk. Or, maybe, those who have seen scams over and over again with the same "feel", can pick up on it PDQ.
The different price thing is a warning flag, although brokers and dealers will often relist a car especially overseas for far more than the car is for sale here, if they get a buyer they then buy the car and do a flip and make some quick cash. AS stated earlier multiple cities, not necessarily a sure sign of a scam. After 37 years in the business, not new to the rodeo. It certainly doesn't appear to be a hunk of junk, has some issues, but maybe your vast expertise can tell that as well. Insert rolly eyes here
The "single pic, and poorly worded description and lowball price" are all I need to know to walk past such "a deal". Vast experience... You have no idea. Your 37 years and $2.50 will get you a cup of coffee.
I look at hundreds of Buick postings every week, and I can catch most of the scams. I will admit that I have been tricked by a few on ebay and CL and emailed them though. When I emailed one on ebay, a couple of hours later I got a fake ebay / paypal email, I am sure it was related.
