Looks like a nice solid car to start with. I wish I had money for another project! http://chicago.craigslist.org/nch/cto/3174260198.html
This one has been talked about before. note the large oil puddle in the center probably a rear main and we know what that does to a clutch. The owner must have had several come and look and walk away because he urges prospective buyers to come look at it.
John-yup, it's listed here on the board andhas been for sale for quite some time. Price reflects condition... FWIW..
I've been watching this one. Did a Google image search and found several other pics that appear to be of this car, same driveway, comes up under some muscle car dealer site. Click on the pic, goes to the dealers site but no car. Looks like non a/c non power brakes.
I went to go check this out in person about a week ago. It was on Ebay with a ton more pics. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1968-GS-400-Skylark-4-speed-/230837941260?forcev4exp=true
Welcome to the board. You looked but didn't buy. What do you think it's worth? Did you drive it? Thanks,
I'm such a newbie, I have no reference point besides the copious amount of internet browsing and research I do. I went with a friend of mine who knows far more than me so I'll only speak to what little I know. The transmission linkage was backwards, so only the owner could really drive it as the shifting was all backwards. The interior had buckets and a back seat, but was bare besides that. It idled kind of high (intentionally?) and had a few warning signs according to my pal (tranmission/engine), but it ran, has a 455, and the exterior body was in good shape as you can see from the pics. Trunk was interior was patched poorly and was messy. I've seen another one or two in the area that were in better shape, if they'd only respond to me! erg
Thanks for the report. Seems to be right in line with what others that know of the car are saying. Happy hunting,
Im looking for a 68 or 69 Buick! I was just reading about what everyone is saying about this car, I guess I shouldn't waist my time? Need some help please! Thanks Mary
I guess it depends. For me personally, I'd need to spend about 20k to get what I have pictured in my head for that car(pro touring, mild custom). And that's IF there are no big surprises with engine or rust. With that said, I want a 68/9 4 speed so bad that if I knew I would live another 30 years I'd buy it, spend the next 15 years building it(yes I'm poor) then enjoy the heck out of it my last 15
The 68 was mine! A nice start but needed lots of work! I was head over heals when I bought it due to the fact it was a 4 speed! It was nothing more than a dream though and I lost my rear on it!!!
