I wish I had a lead for you, but I just wanted to let you know (in case you already didn't) that a '68 GS400 Convert 3-speed would be 1 0f 79 produced.

... a very rare care indeed - good luck on your search

Dumb question but why not a 4 speed stick?Less work shifting?

Anyone remember that 70 3 speed a few years ago on ebay for like 130k? Don't know if it ever sold, but they are like a double edged sword. Really expensive and not as much fun to drive.

I wonder what his reserve is.

I beg to differ on the 3 vs 4spd discussion. 3spds are fun to drive. My reference is that the gear ratios on the old 60s corvettes were such that a 3spd was 1-3-4 same as a 4spd. With a good torque Buick motor you may not need second anyway.

I wouldn't necessarily prefer 3spd to 4spd, but am just saying they are fun too. I've been there and done that.

Chris- THAT IS THE CAR he is looking for. I wonder if it did change owners...
buick67gs- there it is...go for it!
(formally china)Mike M- don't do anything rash with a particular red 68 GS from Mass... It is on my 'wish list' when I come out of 'hibernation'....:TU:

I like that a LOT... last time I saw it on ebay it met reserve @ like 13500...No Sale??? bidder had zero buys too.

On the 3-speed deal, the gear ratios were set up more for driveability that performance, but IMHO the 65 GS for example would have been a fraction better off the line with the 3-speed since the 1st gear ratio was higher on the 3 than on the available 4-speed- the Warner T-10 is like the Muncie Rock Crusher, 2.20:1 first gear, kinda a dog off the line unless the rear axle is set up with 3.9 to 4.1s...and most of the 4-speed 65 GS cars probably had the 3.31:1 ratio. Ramble on!

Now this is after the car sold for $13k he is still asking me for the full $20k can anybody tell me whats rong what that picture?? no way in this world would i pay him that after the last winner won it for $13k and i told him that so he told me he would do $17K so me wanting this car so so so bad in my heart i agreed to it!!! so now we go back and fourth on how to pay for the car, money order or wire tranfer i was not feeling to safe about that!! so i told him i would pay in person!! he would never give me a date to come and pay when i asked!! he would not answer the phone ect. this went on for a couple of weeks or so!! He called right before thanksgiving and i asked him if i could pay him for the car throught ESROW.COM and he go's off the deep end calling me out my name and my wife!!! and that was the last time we talked!! all i can say is watch out!! I dont even think he has the car!!! From what he has told me,the car is in LAPEER,MI if there is anyone close!! that is willing to drive up and take a look at it in person i have his name/number GOOD LUCK I hope your money is insured!!!

The top can be replaced for 500.00? I'll take 10 at that price..... Maybe? Last time I had a top done right it was north of $2300.00, that included new cables and a top bow or two.

This sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen. If you still want the car tell him you have CASH in hand but you want to see a picture of TODAY's Newspaper WITH the date readable lying on the windshield so that the VIN plate is also readable.

... then show up with a bank check or Money order and LOTS of big friends
