47K collector/show quality car with the original rebuild 430 engine including the optional finned aluminum valve covers!? Any thoughts? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1968...ars_Trucks&hash=item20d4c4086b#ht_1132wt_1165
It looks like a fairly decent '68 car that needs some TLC, and is priced reasonably - maybe a tad high, but it is a southern car. I do like that white interior ! Here's a very quick list of the items that detract from the car Rob: o No: Crank windows on a Riviera ?? Missing Courtesy Lamp Lenses. Carpet faded, floor and doors. - needs replacing. Incorrect centre caps on those chrome wheels. No 'R' emblems on the 'B' Pillars after the top was replaced? Do the headlights retract? (...all pics show them down) Optional Finned valve covers ?? (...are they even correct '68 valve covers, looks like a 455 engine?) No fan shroud on an AC car? Incorrect radiator/fan cover? Hang up those front seat shoulder belts. Cruise Control ?? (...missing dash switch?) Side dump exhaust - Nascar style? (...needs proper exhaust with tail pipes) Missing fender Badging - which is mentioned in description. Cracked Dash Pad ??
Not only because of blue paint, but the intake looks like it was made for EGR and air injection. Smog motor.
Thanks Randy and all other replies. What bothers me is that it's presented as a collector/show car but it's far from collector/show quality. Where is the original 430ci engine at only 47K?
I think this guy is full of it. My car was as original as they come when I got it and theres a lot of red flags on this one. If thats worth 47K then I should easy get 100K for mine:laugh:
No insulation under the hood, either. That paint's gonna bake right off on a hot day in traffic, and it'll get plenty hot with no fan shroud. Headlights are down, which likely means the vacuum actuators are shot. A 23 feedback rating isn't anything to feel good about, either. I wouldn't buy a hubcap from a seller with a 23 rating. Interior is so-so at best. $3k on a good day, otherwise tell owner to pound sand.
I contacted the seller about the engine type and he has changed the description. Another case of ignorance, or lack of knowledge about the item being sold. He was told it was original when he listed it. It is now changed to a '72 455 GS, not sure about that GS reference eh ? o No:
Thanks for the information Randy! Maybe he should present the car as a driver or project instead of collector/show car.
