   On my 69 430 block, the oil suction(from pick-up to pump) passage is approx. 1/2''. How much larger can I safely make it?
   Can I go to 5/8''?

   You should have no problems, just need a long drill bit and make sure you drill straight. I have done this to a 455 block with no problem.
