One of the most needed parts is a 1969 Gran Sport grille. The Skylark grille is different so that makes a GS grille in decent shape almost impossible to find.

They are all tough to find! I would take any grille that fits (even if it isn't perfect). Better than a gaping hole.

    1969 Skylark GS Grill

There are grills appearing on eBay from time to time, I saw a '69 Skylark grill there last week, and other things like the grill surround trim pieces and more, check it out, but BEWARE, a lot of things on eBay are over-priced and you may end up in a bidding war. Always check your other sources, even YearOne.com, to make sure you're not paying too much.

My search for this particular grill has also yielded very few leads. The grills i have located are usually cracked, missing tabs, & the person still wants $300-400.00! I know they are rare, and demand is tight, but you would think someone could come up with a mold and pop these out new for less than $500.00 a pop. As long as the plastic is the same quality or better, I would be interested in finding out how much it would cost to have a mold designed, blueprinted, & made. Unsure of licenseing though. I wouldn't think there would be any issues with that, since there are no branding marks. What does everyone else think?:Do No:

Actually, licensing is an issue, but Alan Faircloth does have GM licensing for most of our car's grilles. The problem is startup costs to make a mold, and getting sufficient pre-orders to ensure that the sales will happen. This is the case for EVERY model year, as each has a different grille. This topic has been kicked around on this board extensively in the past, and if you do a search for "grille reproduction" you should find lots in data that has been posted about the logistics of grille reproduction.

Of course since the first posting here in May of 2003, the reproduction 1969 Buick GS grille has been being made... these are on eBay all the time now. Pricey at $599 but what else is new for Buicks!

Now it's time to start lobbying for the decklid chrome. :error:

I thought the repros were no longer being made? I don't know how many vendors have in stock, but then it's back to searching.

Ken, Rixtser and others, the grille is going to be made again. Get one when they are available, because this could be the last run. Frank

The fact that a 69 is available almost has me buying one along with a 69 surround, just in case. Sure would be nice to see a 68 instead.

But I'd still hate to put a 69 front on my 68...

I have a decent 68 grille now, but I drive my car quite a bit for 6 months a year. Who knows when a rock or bird will put a hole in it.

If it's for the McIntyre Industries repop, they're worth it. I replaced mine with one of his and man, it looks good. My old one was tattered, gives a whole new look to the car.
