'69 Riviera didn't come in red you say? This seller says this one did; http://forums.aaca.org/f117/1969-riviera-santa-fe-348928.html pics http://www.flickr.com/photos/jstevesantafe/6472190331/in/photostream/ This is a really nice, exceptionally well preserved head turning example of Buick's best. Only 56,300 original miles on this 44 year old classic. . .special factory "delete" exterior paint not offered as one of Riviera's standard offerings, Signal Red. This was a GM color designated for Buick, but not the Riviera. Older professional repaint with no cracks or shrinkage by GM dealer. This unique color and the fact that this model was ordered without the usual vinyl roof (which I personally think is disruptive to the great lines of these second generation Rivieras) really accentuates the nice lines of Bill Mitchell's iconic design. Excellent chrome, interior, glass, wheels. Original rolled and pleated interior in black is in excellent condition as are headliner and carpeting. Multiple pictures at: CIMG3794 | Flickr - Photo Sharing! Extensive mechanical sorting has all been done. . ., fuel pump, gas tank and lines, vacuum hoses, major tune-up and new dual exhaust. Rebuilt factory air unit blows strong and cold. New narrow white side wall radials with less than 2000 miles. Engine runs smoothly and quietly. The car drives like a dream, easily cruising at modern interstate speeds with 430-4 factory 360 horsepower engine. Original factory AM Buick radio has been rebuilt and is in top working order. Car also comes with original Owner's manual and original Buick Protect-O-Plate. Truly a pleasant drivable time capsule! Car is located in high and dry Santa Fe, NM, where it is an occasional weekend driver for me. I am a private collector/seller making room in my collection. I will consider driving and delivering the car within reasonable distance within the Southwest. The car meets all NADA "excellent" criteria for high retail of $20,800. I am offering at $15,900 to make room in my garage. Serious lookers call me (Steve) at 415-336-7214
I like that price, too. But, My garage runneth over and my wallet is flat ---------- Post added at 08:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:35 PM ---------- Ah!! This is the perfect car for you!! It's got A/C!! Keep the windows up with the A/C blowing !! When you want the wind in your hair do it right , with the hat back on the deuce&1/4 drop top.... And they're both RED !!!!
Not seen every day red is nice on that car, along with the clean factory engine compartment. The Oldsmobile upholstery, not so much.
I disagree with his statement about the vinyl top (that car would look great with a black top) I believe the 66-67s look better without one, the 68-69s look better with one, I know opinions vary and that's mine
WOW! I am not much of a Riv fan but I like that one a lot. I cant imagine you would see another like it at any cruise in or show.
Red was not offered as a standard color choice but of course one could "special order" it in 69. Too bad they didn't show the body tag with paint code. Its 1/2 the price but not even half the car IMO. Plain jane low optioned car
Very nice 69 Riv. Options include chrome wheels with Riviera "R" spinners, Cruisemaster, and rear window defrost. I would change the red colored vacuum lines back to black lines. Needs a belt to the AC compressor and also the windshield washer hose needs to connect to the washer fluid reservoir.
Oops - I stand corrected. Just checked my '69 showroom catalog. That is the "Expanded Vinyl" bench seat design. Year-make-model correct for the car. Still has an Olds-y appearance to it though...
A very nice looking '69 for a reasonable price ! It would probably cost that much, or more for a resto, and this is a 'turn key' car that just needs a little TLC !! The 'Olds' interior is actually the base model '69 Riviera interior, and not the 'Custom' version, which was an option. As far as the vinyl top debate - the 2nd gen cars look better without the added top and trim, but thats just my personal preference. The long flowing lines of the car are accentuated and uncluttered without the contrasting top cover and additional trim. I prefer the 'clean' look, but we all know beauty is in the "i" of the beholder Crank windows on a Riviera ?? (... the power widow option only cost about a $100 back then). ...the 'neckkid' clean look
I agree on your vinyl top statement...just like we agree on the same color too for the Riviera! I don't hate the red color on the Riviera but I think the 68-69 Riviera do have too much class for "just" a bright red or blue color... I think those colors look better on smaller sports cars...like a 60's Corvette for example.
