For the original 8.2 10 bolt, it will be u bolts. http://www.jdrace.com/diff_id/10bBOP_Buick.htm http://www.jdrace.com/diff_id/10b82bop/Buick/10b82bopbuick_4.jpg
Thanks, I had ordered some for a 69 Skylark w8.2 rear end and they are to narrow, checked a couple local vendors and they came up with the same one; I starting thinking maybe it had the straps & bolts. Thanks again Jaye
You shouldn't have to wonder about that, all you need to do is look carefully at the yoke. The yoke that uses straps and bolts will have THREADED holes. The 8.5 ten bolt had straps and bolts. Have you identified the rear that is in your car? Lots of things get changed in a 48 year old car.
Yes, Unfortunately in the world of auto parts store they have messed up the CHEVY and BOP u bolts. If they have a book see if they have a center to center measurement you need a 1.125 (1 1/8") joint strap not the Chevy 1.062 (1 1/16") joint cup strap. You might need to use a FORD part number We have a hard time getting these u-bolts correct from the stores also. THEY ARE out there just have to pull them off the shelf and double check. DO NOT JUST spread the u-bolt...that is VERY WRONG to do. it will lead to failure on the u-joint. Jim J D
I went to Napa and the guy there was pretty knowledgeable, at first he brought out the same one I currently have, a few minutes later he had the correct one. Hopefully I'll get them installed tomorrow. Thanks Jaye :TU:
I worked at an Advance and within two weeks I was made a manager, two weeks later everyone in the store was asking me questions to include the general manager; as long as they can clear a background check they are hired. To get to the person who knows speak to the commercial parts pro.
